OK service, but be prepared for the up-sell

I submitted my transportation request to several companies. Two came back at $300 and said "no hidden fees", "no extra charges", etc, etc.

I read the reviews and went with Red Carpet. They were friendly and Tige said the price they quoted $300 ($100 for them and $200 for the transport driver) - they are only a broker, was very reasonable based on the other quotes he saw in "the system". I gave him my credit card and he said my car would be picked up in a few days. That was on a Monday.

I didn't hear anything until Friday when Tige called and said he found a driver but the driver wanted $300 (plus his $100). I told him no and reminded him that their quote was "all inclusive". He said he would take $35 off his fee and would see if the driver would take $25 off his. The driver agreed. I was hesitant because they had quoted $300. He made it sound like no one would take the car for $200, so I felt like I was stuck.

He said he would call as soon as the car was loaded but never did. The driver (Francisco's Towing and Transport) was very prompt and communicated his arrival and drop off times to the minute.

Francisco's was great, Red Carpet was so-so. They made a promise and then came back to get more money. It cost me $40 more than the original quote. While not that much money, it was the strong arm tactics they used to get more money that bothered me.

The entire transport industry is based on estimates unfortunately, we do our very best to be as spot on as possible. Drivers have the ability to come to us and say we can get this vehicle but for a higher price. We come to our clients with every offer we receive, and at any point you are able to say no you would like to stay with the quoted price. Also, we do ask 1 to 7 days to locate you a carrier, and we did find you a carrier in less than 7 days as we said we would. I do hope that this will not deter you from using us in the future if the need arises. Tige
