Lack of Communication

***Update: Shortly after I posted this negative review, it was removed. Transport Reviews sent me this:

"Red Carpet Auto Transport, Inc. is unable to locate your order and has no way of proving that you are a customer of theirs."

So I replied with a copy of my Order Confirmation. Then they re-posted the review and took note that Red Carpet Auto Transport tried to use the "not my customer" routine.

I also included Tony Quinn on the correspondence. He replied:

"This now proves you were a customer and are good to go for cancellation fees."

In other words, AFTER I posted a negative review, Mr. Quinn decided to charge me a cancellation fee. Previously, he had assured me that no fees would be charged to me.

There are lots of positive reviews on this company. Maybe I am the exception. But please take note of the character of the president. After a bad review he lied about me being a customer, and then threatened to charge me more money for cancelling.
***End update***

Here is the rest of the story:

Tony Quinn told me he could get a pickup truck moved from New York to Washington State for $1,309. He said it typically takes 1 - 7 days for pickup. We were fine with that range of time.

After seven days I had not heard anything from Mr. Quinn. I called him and he said he would ask for three bids from some carrier companies and then get back to me so I could make an informed decision. I said, "What decision am I going to be making?" I had agreed to pay Mr. Quinn $1,309 to move my truck. What other decision is there to make? Basically he was telling me that it was going to cost more money to move the truck.

He never called me back with those bids. Meanwhile, we have to pay for another two weeks of parking. My brother's moving date came and went, so now he isn't even living anywhere near where the truck is (still) waiting to be picked up.

After two weeks and no communication from Mr. Quinn, I started leaving messages for him to call me back. I left four messages over five days. I received no return phone calls. I received no e-mails.

Unfortunately, we now have to pay for another two weeks of parking for the truck. And it is no longer cost effective for us to pay a company to move the truck. Now we have to fly out and drive the truck across the country ourselves.

If Mr. Quinn had called me back with accurate information at any point in this process, we could have made other arrangements. Because of the lack of communication, working with Mr. Quinn and Red Carpet Auto Transport has indirectly cost us several hundred dollars and made for a difficult last-second trip across the country to pick up the truck ourselves.

Nate, You sent me an email wanting to cancel your order, because nobody wanted to move your truck. You asked me if we were going to charge you a cancellation fee. I politely replied and said that since you were never a paying customer that we would not. I then told Transport Reviews that you were not a customer of ours, as we went our separate ways. You then told Transport Reviews that you were a customer, so therefore per our terms and conditions, we have the ability to charge a $75 cancellation fee. I never said anything, nor will I say anything negative towards you. It's simpy that we had our dispatch work extremely hard and that's not free. I apologize for the lack of communication, but my character assasination should not be at issue here. You are upset with me for not being able to ship a vehicle and want to make your point. I understand. Best of luck in the future.
