I had my Shelby Cobra replica shipped from an auction in Palm Springs to my home in Montana. Nick Pliaconis was very helpful in getting my open car on the first truck out that night, and it was then delivered to their warehouse in L.A. prior to being shipped to my home. Since it was winter in MT I was in no hurry to get the car, and Nick was aware of that and did give me a "will ship before..." date. The shipment happened when promised, but upon arrival the driver called and was unwilling to drop the car @ my location. He insisted that I meet him at a local moving company warehouse. I could not determine why they could not drive the extra 1.2 miles to my garage and unload the car.
It turns out that although my car had been picked up in an enclosed car hauler, it was delivered to my town in the back of a furniture moving van. No wonder they could not deliver it to my garage. By the time I got to the moving company warehouse, the car had been unloaded and was inside. It was very dirty but was otherwise in good shape. There was snow on the ground and temps in the 30s so driving my 300+ HP open sportscar for the first time was not what I had imagined. There was never any indication that my car would be shipped in a furniture truck, or dropped at a warehouse. This turned out to be a big hassle and even the delivery driver did not know that I was expecting the car to be delivered to my garage.
Be sure you know what you are getting on the pickup AND delivery end of your transport. The Plycon drivers on both ends were professional and very helpful, and the shipment turned out o.k. in the end, but it was not at all what I had expected.
