North American was supposed to pick up our truck on 08/25/06, we got a call on 08/23 saying that they would pick up on the 24th that a truck was on the way. They were told that we were not ready and that we were scheduled for the 25th and we never heard back. On the morning of the 25th we get a call saying sorry we can’t pick up until now until Monday the 28th, some excuse about the truck is not here yet.
Needless to say this was a MAJOR inconvenience and my daughter had to stay in Philly for the weekend, thankfully she had friends she could stay with because she had already sent all on her stuff home and gave away all of her other items she was not taking home, like her bed.
Now here is where it gets really bad
On Monday 08/28/06 we call the trucking company and he tells us he will not be able to pick up the truck because he did not know that the truck was an extended cab and there is no room on the truck for it. That I had to speak with the broker (I guess that’s North American) my daughter is in tears because she needs to get home and we are now stuck. I tried calling the so called customer service on Monday at 9:00 Am and no answer, I’m told to leave a message so I do, and I wait an hour no one calls me back. So I call again and speak with Devon my sales person, he tells me that they are all in a training meeting and someone will call me back soon. Another hour goes by, no one calls me back.
Now you can bet I’m absolutely furious by now, I want the public to know that the customer service line was unattended for 2 plus hours on Monday morning 08/28/06, why would you do that? I can understand training meetings, but you don’t leave your customer service un-staffed even for a minute.
After numerous promises to be called back and numerous attempts to reach someone in customer service I finally get to speak with your customer service manager Stephanie about 12:00pm. I’m told that I did not tell your company that the truck was an extended cab pickup, well that’s just bull. When I set this up 3 weeks in advance with my sales person Devon we discussed what type of truck it was, I had questions like is it a dual wheel? Does it have a cap, what year? And if it was an extended cab and so on.
Now I’m told that I would have to wait for another truck to become available and they are not sure when that may be. I tell her that I just need the truck picked up and they could ship it on the next available truck, at this point North American should have hired a flat bed to come and get the truck and send it to your terminal in New Jersey only a couple hours away. Instead I get more excuses, like we need to charge you more because of the size of the truck, I said NO we agreed on a price and it’s North American’s fault that the truck was not picked up on time. At this point I’m burned out on this whole deal, while waiting to get a phone call back I hired a back up vendor and I tell Stephanie to cancel the order that I have taken my business elsewhere.

North American did not live up to their part of the deal and I have been trying to get my refund for 10 weeks as of 11-02-06 and I have yet to get it and most likely never will.

North American’s mission statement was not followed and I feel like we were ignored about our issues and that North American was not willing to make it right. Instead we got excuses and indifference.
