The car was picked up in Oregon two days earlier than contracted and thusly arrived in VA 2 days before our son, an Army officer, had arrived at his new assignment so there was no one to pick up the car. The transport company that New World Auto Transport had contracted with (Auto Star Transport out of Spokane, WA) wanted to leave the vehicle in storage in DC and the driver wanted us to pay the $1,000 before our son could see if the car had any damage. We refused to pay the money until our son arrived and inspected the car. As a result the storage company refused to give us its location so our son could eventually pick up his car. We contacted Steve Wells, owner of New World Auto Transport- the company we contracted with- and he took care of everything immediately- wiring the $1,000 to the storage company so they would release the car to our son. We then paid Mr. Wells once our son received his car. Mr. Wells kept in touch by phone with us constantly to be sure everything was resolved and he said that he did not plan to use the drive company- Auto Star Transport out of Spokane, WA- ever again.
We would definitely use New World Auto Transport again in the future and were very impressed with the owner, Steve Wells. The entire price for the shipment was $1295, which we felt was really very fair.
Our only advice would be to double and triple check actual driving and delivery dates so that someone is there when the car is delivered.- especially if it is going across the US. Most people would be thrilled to have the car delivered in 8 days but due to our son's overseas Army assignment he could not be at the delivery site at an earlier time. Our hat is off to Steve Wells for resolving in a timely manner a difficult situation!
