Rate: $4 per cu ft
Original Estimate - 1500 for 385 cu ft
I sold a few things and gave them the revised itinerary. I measured every single item in my household. It was 313 cu ft, but they still charged me for ~350 cu ft. I couldnt believe that they refused to honor 'hard measurements' and still stuck with their 'estimate' of what the are would be.

They also randomly charged me around $50 for additional boxes that they used to pack things as they said they were 'not allowed' to carry small duffel bags, laptop bags, etc. Everything had to be in cardboard boxes! This sounded absurd.

I specifically scheduled the departure time (according to the moving company's convenience) such that my stuff would arrive on a certain date.
But the driver had not even left the origin on the day the stuff was supposed to arrive. The truck finally came 6 days late.

They charged $75 to haul the stuff upto the 2nd floor, although they claimed that a move up one floor was free when I was making my reservation. They said that only the first flight of stairs was free. Even though the dictionary definition of a 'flight of stairs' is to take you from one level to another, they said that if there was a landing or change in direction, it would be considered another flight of stairs. So 10 steps in the same direction is free, but 9 steps in one direction and 1 step in another direction would result in a charge of $75.

Make sure you consider all these charges. Also make sure you measure all your items. When the packers came, they claimed that my stuff was 400 cu ft, but it was only 313 cu ft. I was lucky enough not to be charged for 400 cu ft, because I was so meticulous in my packing and measuring.

I would have been much happier had they charged me a higher per cuft rate and not cheated me with multiple misc charges.

I have soooo many friends who are moving. I get about 2 emails a day on my company's classifieds mailing list asking for recommendations for movers.

This company lost out on thousands of dollars in referrals by being petty.

Bottomline:

CHEAT YOU ON ESTIMATES, TECHNICALITIES AND CHARGES
DO NOT DELIVER ON TIME
VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE (GREAT ONLY WHEN YOU ARE BOOKING, TERRIBLE WHEN YOU ARE IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING)

ON THE PLUS SIDE, MOST ITEMS WERE IN GOOD CONDITION AND NO ITEMS WERE LOST
