Not a good middleman

They gave me a 3-day pickup window. On the first 2 days, they texted me in the early morning saying they had a driver who would pick up the car in the afternoon, only to have the driver cancel at the last minute. I actually didn't find out about the cancellation from MoveAuto and found out from the car dealership I was shipping from. MoveAuto said they didn't know why the drivers canceled but said perhaps it was a truck breakdown. Two different trucks back-to-back in 2 days!!? On day 3 when I saw the same pattern emerging, I got mad and asked a lot of questions. Turns out they don't own any trucks and don't have drivers on staff. They are a "broker" who subcontracts to "carriers" who actually own the trucks and have drivers on staff. Their guarantee of a "pickup" by Day 3 meant using a tow truck and my car may have to wait up to 6 days for a real transport truck subcontractor to actually pick it up. Apparently, this was all in the fine print that they never spoke about in their sales pitch. I canceled the order with MoveAuto and used ShipCars.com and safer.fmcsa.dot.gov to find and hire a real "carrier". I got my car picked up within hours and delivered the next day, at a much lower price.
