We completed a search engine and received quotes from numerous companies. Many of these companies warned about accepting the lowest bid and how your vehicle could remain in limbo for weeks. We wanted to avoid this and so we checked out reviews on 3 different companies. We had received an e-mail from Move on Time and a phone call from Mark. We were impressed with Mark’s professionalism on the phone. With mostly good reviews and several years in business, we decided to book with them. Their e-mail quote for $ 850 included this phrase:

This is a binding estimate of your vehicle(s) transport charges. The quote provided is complete, and there are no additional charges. It is based solely on the information you provided in terms of year, make & model of the vehicle(s) to be transported as well as the point-of-origin and point-of-destination. The estimate includes pick-up, delivery, fuel, tolls, taxes, insurance, and special conditions. As per DOT regulations, vehicles may not be transported with personal items. Other than the initial payment, final payment is due upon delivery by certified check, money order, or cash to be paid directly to the transporter. Thanks

We were a bit concerned about the low price, but Mark assured us that was because of their reputation in the industry. We found that believable and authorized our deposit of $ 150 which was posted to our credit card within minutes on 7/22. We asked for a pickup date of 7/27 and Mark said he thought he could have a driver even sooner - probably in 2-3 days. At this time, the truck being transported was described - a Chevrolet 3500 with a service body, tool boxes and ladder racks. We had listed Chevy 3500 on our initial search, but there wasn’t a place to add about its service body and we wanted to make sure Mark knew this also. This was the last time we heard from Mark until 8/6, 15 days after we booked with them and 10 days after we had requested pickup.

During this time, my wife and I made numerous calls to Mark and Move On Time’s offices. We spoke with Romina several times. When we asked why Mark wasn’t returning our calls, Romina said that their offices had been without power and their phones had just come back up. When we asked why no one was booked to transport our truck, she said she was on the phone with them and that she would call back. As the days passed by, we continued to call Romina who said she was still on the phone, right then, with truckers about our truck. But, she explained, the price would have to go up - $ 850 was a ridiculous price for this truck and this distance. We pointed out that Mark was working for them, and this was the price that was quoted to us both in e-mail and on the phone. We weren’t the ones to make up this price. However, we still needed to get the truck transported, so we told them to go ahead and get a price for us. More days went by without contact from Move on Time unless we initiated the call. On Thursday, August 5th, I contacted Move on Time and told them I wanted to cancel with them and to please refund my deposit. Romina said it would take a week to process a credit to our charge card and on 8/10, we received a refund. On 8/6, a day after we canceled with Romina, and 10 days after we had requested pickup, Mark sent an email - the first we had heard from him since we had booked with him. It said:

We are currently at $1350 on Central for your vehicle and not 1 phone call from a driver interested in picking your vehicle up. We can continue to go up in $50 increments and eventually a driver will be interested. However, Romina tells me that your truck weighs 11000 pounds. This is turning out to be a much more difficult job than I ever imagined. Please let me know what you would like to do.

My son and I ended up booking flights to California and we drove the truck back ourselves. We were actually in California when Mark finally sent an e-mail.
