A month's worth of aggravation

A trip to New Orleans from NY that was to be about 4 days took nearly a month! Allstate found a driver without checking any references (which I saw later on another site) The driver rarely answered or returned my calls. After 2 weeks and lots of emails, I was told by Allstate to go ahead and file a stolen car report. I finally got in touch with the driver who said he was SHUT DOWN by the DOT!!!! The carrier had an infinite number of infractions and was taken off the road with all the cars and put in a garage in Tennessee- the guy said another driver would be continuing the trip- this was not true.I called Allstate to order another driver and it took them even more time to find someone in this remote area- the first driver took $750 from me and just left our car in Tennessee and went home to New Jersey. Chris refunded only my deposit of $125 and said he would try to get the first driver to pay the second- heaven forbid Allstate would pick up the tab after choosing this horrible carrier. My family and I paid the new driver$500 to finish the trip. The total cost was supposed to be $875- we ended up paying $1250. Basically we paid the driver from Monzon auto carriers $750 cash to dump the car in Tennessee and he just ran off with the money. One would think if Allstate was such a reputable company and cared about their customers,they would have covered this. My kid had to wait 1 month fora car that had text books in it for the upcoming GRE's,in addition he had to rent a car to drive back and forth to campus, and we certainly were not reimbursed for that either! In conclusion, Allstate should have checked all sources for a reference on this guy( I found the bad reviews after the fact) and they also should have had more control over the situation- they basically gave up and we were forced to pay almost double the money and wait a month for the car!
