Montway Auto Transport doubled price on quote because they say their rep misquoted

I had scheduled and paid for a truck to be picked up in South Carolina and dropped off to Custer Ky. I paid $1,575.00 for the move. I assumed everything was in order.. I received a call a couple days later and I was informed that the quote was mis-quoted, if I wanted the truck picked up that now it would be $3,000.00 and not $1,575.00. The rep apologized and said there was nothing he can do, but now the price has changed.. In my opinion, this is a terrible way to do business. This transportation company should honor their original quote. We did not make any changes nor was nothing misrepresented.. I do not recommend this company to any one. Take your time and find other transport companies who will honor their quotes..

Hello, Gerardo! Thank you for your review. We would like to take the time to explain, what transpired with your order. First and foremost, the "vehicle" the customer was requesting to be transported was actually an inoperable 1992 International Fire Truck. You were originally quoted $1549 for this transport from SC to KY because, in the past, we had shipped two fire trucks from CA to MT for this price. Rates are based on the current The Fair Market Value, and change according to a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: Driver availability, time of the year, and a number of miles that the vehicle is being transported, to name a few. With that being said, you received a call from one of our support agents because he received a call from a carrier who requested the additional fees as they had priced the available spot on their trailer higher than expected. That was only an optional offer, and since you did not want to go with what was being presented, we would decline their request and continued working towards assigning a carrier for the original price. We will always notify our customers of all available options being presented. It is the customer's choice to proceed with the final schedule. You requested this order to be canceled. I hope this explanation makes it easier to understand how the auto transport industry works and to give you an example that as a broker we are fully dedicated to our customers and ensuring the customer gets the best service possible. We do apologize for the inconveniences. Thank you.
