I selected Monstar after reviewing all the top rated companies in Transport Reviews. I chose Monstar because they had a lot of reviews and they mostly contained common themes of good service and good results. I requested quotes from a number of companies and, although Monstar was not the cheapest, they were reasonable, they were located in my home state, and they were prompt with their initial quote and also good with follow-up communications. I placed my order on October 15, with a must deliver date of November 13. I told them I did not care when the car was picked up, as long as they gave the seller adequate notice, but I did want it delivered between November 3 and 13. Letty called me on the first of November, telling me Wildwood Trucking would be the transporter (also comfortable because I have seen their trucks on California Highways many times) and gave me the telephone number of the dispatcher and the name and cell number for the driver. After several delays, the car was picked up on November 8. The seller called me and said the pickup went very smoothly and he was pleased with their service. The next I heard was from the trucking company on November 13, telling me my car was in their yard in Adalanto (about 4 hours from my house) but, because I live in a remote and mountinous area, they would be transferring my car to a single vehicle trailer the next day (the 14th) for deliverythe day after (November 15 - 2 days late). The car finally arrived about 5 pm on the 15th, but other than a little dust (not much on a shiney black 60 T-Bird), and a low battery (we had to jump start it on the trailer), it was in fine condition. Overall, I have no problem with the process, and being two days late did not create a super problem. One additional note: Letty had quoted me a price of $790 for the service, $160 up front to her and $630 to the driver at time of delivery. However, blaiming the California wildfires raging at the time, no trucks wanted to come into Southern California and therefore she told me it was going to cost an additional $10 and that I was to pay the full $800 to the driver at time of delivery. Letty also told me she was waiving her fee for the service because of the unanticipated additional cost for delivery. Although price was certainly a factor in selecting Monstar, I told Letty I would split the difference with her and she could charge me anyway for $80--half her quoted fee. I felt that was fair and she thanked me for doing so. It seems integrity is still alive in her businesses--she could have telephoned me up front to negotiate a new price but she kept her part of the bargin, so I felt I should do something too..
