This review pertains to both Mercury Auto Transport and Jozf Auto Transport (ICC#3848515)

I had my 2008 BMW M3 shipped from West Palm Beach, Florida to Lake Forest, California on July 7, 2010. The pickup was on time as well as the delivery 8 days later. However, upon delivery it was noted that the front bumper was severely damaged and hanging from the car and the front grill was cracked. In addition, the front undercarriage was also damaged and dragging on the ground on one side. My tow hook cover was also missing.

The Bill of Lading upon pick up noted some mild "scratches" on the front bumper from routine use however it was clearly obvious that significant damage was done to the vehicle during its transport. Upon delivery, the new Bill of Lading clearly and specifically noted all of the damage that was done and pictures were taken.

The driver for Jozf Auto Transport was shown these damages and he had to call his boss Art (owner of Jozf Auto Transport) to seek permission to sign the new Bill of Lading. He was instructed not to sign it. That being said, after about 1 hour of discussion and realization that I was not going to pay the balance of $750 unless the BOL was signed, the driver finally signed it acknowledging the damage was done during transport.

Thereafter, I received a quote from my bodyshop who has very resonable rates and the damage came to just under $2000. I was told by Mercury Auto Transport that Jozf's deductible for damaged cargo is $2500 and therefore I cannot file a claim. Art initially denied any damage done to the car but after providing proof with the Bill of Ladings and speaking with his driver he agreed the damage was done.

Since its delivery on July 14, 2010 I've been speaking with Michael Cespedes of Customer Service at Mercury Auto Transport. I am sorry to say that it has been a terrible experience working with him and Mercury. I have been consistently told that they were going to "take care of it" yet no information or progress has been made and my phone calls and emails are not returned despite repeated attempts. I hate to think that my phone number is tagged because when I call Michael with my phone there is no answer. However, when I call with a different phone literally 30 seconds later it is answered each and everytime.

It has been almost 6 weeks now and the car is still sitting at my body shop damaged and undrivable. I am in the progress of having my attorney file a small claims lawsuit against Josf to get them to pay for their damages. This has been a horrible experience and I highly recommend customers avoid doing business with both Mercury Auto Transport and Jozf Auto Transport if at all possible.
