Great Broker and Great Transport Driver

I researched many companies before deciding to do business with Jake Horner at Mercury Transport. Mercury was in the Goldilocks zone in terms of the price quoted. Some others were priced higher and some were lower. After researching, what I found was that the broker you decide to do business with places the price they quoted you on a bidding board that trucking companies across the country have access to. From there, if the price appeals to that trucking company, they will accept that bid and agree to transport your vehicle. If the price the broker quoted to you is too low, you risk no driver accepting the bid , but on the other hand, if the bid was too high and a driver accepts, then you paid more than the market price to ship your vehicle. This is the where the value of having a good broker comes into play. Once the bid has been accepted, the broker will send additional details to the trucking company based on what you have discussed. I did a transport from Texas to Washington DC and had specific requirements. I needed them to pick up my vehicle within a two day window and drop off after a certain day. When the transport driver showed up to pick up my vehicle which was around 600 pm, he was not aware of my drop off requirements and we had to figure out how to do a work around at the last minute. The driver showed me the work order on his phone and sure enough, none of the details I discussed with Mercury was on his order. As you can imagine, I was upset that the driver didn’t have the details communicated to him. On the surface , it looked like my broker, Jake from Mercury, had not provided all the information to the driver, so I emailed Jake regarding the situation and asked him to follow up with me. It was 600 pm and I didn’t have many options available as the vehicle needed to be there by a certain date which now would not happen if I canceled this driver and tried to set up delivery with another driver. In the mean time my driver who was extremely nice and polite discussed a couple of options with me. Most people shipping a vehicle want to be there when the transport driver drops off the vehicle to make sure that there is no damage that occurred during transit. Since this would not be an option, we decided to drop the vehicle at a storage place near the airport I would be landing at. Mind you, this was not an option I wanted, but it was the only one that would work for me because I did not know anyone at the drop off location that could accept my vehicle. The next day Jake from Mercury followed up with a phone call and email showing me documentation where he had sent all the info to the trucking company. It turns out it was the dispatcher that the trucking company uses that didn’t relay the message to the driver. So in the end, it was neither Mercurys fault or the drivers fault. Regardless, I was fortunate to get a driver who followed up with me periodically during the transit and all the way until the drop off site. Once at the storage location, he did a video call with me and showed me the condition of the car and everything looked fine. When I picked up the vehicle, the car looked as it did when it left my house. The driver who transported my car was Dimitri with DK Trucking and I cannot say enough good things about him. He was great. In the end I was fortunate enough to find a great broker and a great driver to ship my car. Ask for Jake Horner at Mercury. I would definitely use him again.
