I worked with Joe Kelly at Mercury Auto Transport to ship an older sports car from my dad's house in Rhode Island to Washington State. On the phone, Joe was great! He got everything setup very quickly & found a carrier at a very good price quickly. When I read the carrier's reviews, I did get very nervous as the reviews of the carrier were pretty horrific. That said, the carrier's employees were very professional & friendly at my dad's house for the pickup & the two young men that delivered the car to me were also super helpful. They took a bit of extra time with me to jump start the battery in the car, which was very dead. I appreciated their help. My only hesitancy in giving this experience 5 stars was due to poor communication. I sent Joe 3 different emails & never received responses. I also tried to call him once, but was unable to leave a message as the voice mailbox was full. Also, and more importantly, I live on an island. It takes time to get to the mainland. I had texted the carrier (at Joe's urging) on 8/26 and got no response. The contract stated a delivery date of 8/30. On the morning of 8/27, I called the carrier's dispatch, who informed me the car was going to arrive that day between 3pm and 5pm. Luckily, I was able to get time off work and catch a very late ferry that got me to the pickup location just after 3pm. If I had not called, I am not sure what would have happened. The driver called my home number around 2pm. When my wife told him I was on the ferry trying to get there on time, he expressed a lot of frustration that he might have to wait for me. If that was my first notification, there would have been literally no way for me to meet them between 3pm and 5pm. So, all in all, I am grateful the car was delivered in good condition, but would have much preferred better communication to make this a less stressful experience.
