After reading many great reviews about my broker, ship a car, and my transporter Mega load I felt confident my Lexus being transported from Wisconsin to Naples Florida would be in good hands. I didn't mind that the quote was among the highest I got because I knew it was the busy season and I wanted a reliable carrier. Their timing was the only reason I gave them a one star instead of a zero. They were to pick it up from my home in Wisconsin on a Tuesday and deliver on that Friday. We had headed to Florida earlier and my neighbor had off on Tuesday so it worked out for him. Mega load called him on the Sunday prior and wanted to pick it up early. They got it on Sunday but never called me to notify me that they had it. My neighbor did. They did get it down here in Florida on Thursday . The problem came on delivery. It was almost dusk and my car is dark gray so not easy to notice scratches. The driver called and met us at our gated communities gate. He had left the large transporter out on the main street and drove my car into the gated area very recklessly. Our gate attendant even was surprised at the speed he drove it in. Obviously he was in a hurry to get back to his semi. He was very unfriendly. When he handed us his small ipad to sign off that we got the car I noticed several scratches on my front panel on the drivers side. He said not to worry, they will rub off and were from trees scratches. I felt uneasy about signing off with nowhere to document these scratches so I signed my name and under it i wrote in about the scratches. The next day as I tried to rub off the scratches I noticed more scratches along the top of the drivers side of the car wrapping back around even into the glass on the hatchback window. I called Mega Load and spoke with the owner Maggie Salaga. She told me they were not liable, to get them rubbed out and it will still end up being cheaper then if I had sent it in an enclosed carrier. She also said I had some scratches on the car previous to shipping so these new ones were no big deal and I did get it a day earlier. Really! I said I didn't care if I got it early I would have preferred an undamaged vehicle! My broker, Joe, tried to be helpful and gave me Mega Loads insurance info. I tired to submit a claim but got turned down because I was a third party and the insurance agent said mega load has a deductible and they have to put in the claim. So I am out of luck with mega load not taking responsibility for the damage. My broker said they won't use Mega Load anymore and apologized for my trouble. So be aware when you ship your car what your carrier will cover if they cause damage. I checked with another transporter today to just see if this was a normal occurrence and I was told if a tornado caused damage it would be considered a natural occurence but not scratches caused by the driver driving through trees! So I learned a lesson but want to extend it out to others so they are aware!!! I have shipped other vehicles without any issues in the past so this came as a surprise. Would not recommend this carrier.!
