I had quotes from a number of other companies before selecting Magic Carpet. I hadn't shipped a car for 7 years, so it was enlightening talking to a variety of companies. For those who are green like I was, here's what I learned:
- Virtually all transport companiies are brokers (not trucking companies) who quote your job to you. They will then post the job for the trucking companies to accept if the amount offered by the broker makes it worth their while.
- The difference between your quote and what the trucking company gets is what the broker makes on the job.
- The higher your quote, the more likely it is to get picked up quickly. Low quotes may also be accepted, but it's less likely because it won't appeal to the trucking company to go very far out of their way to get your car.

Besides price, here are a few other considerations, and the way Magic Carpet handled these details gave me the confidence to work with them.
- Some brokers like Magic Carpet only post their jobs to a select list of trucking companies that meet their criteria.
- Insurance coverage per truck in an amount adequate to pay for the value of all cars on the trailer in the event of a total loss ($1 million min.).
- Same driver & truck that picks up the car also delivers it. Lesser companies may have one truck take it part way, then sit at a terminal until another truck has an open space that can take it the rest of the way (or to the next terminal...).
- Dedicated contact that returns your calls/emails in a timely manner. Adrian was exceptionally good at this, not hesitating to explain the whole process to me. Definitely recommend working with her.
- Don't charge your card until the car is actually picked up,

Ultimately what gave me the confidence to go with Magic Carpet was the high number of 5 star ratings on TransportReviews.com. Their price matching policy was a factor too, but keep in mind the lower your quote the longer it will for your car to reach you, in general.

Hopefully this was useful and will safely get your car to you.
