My initial contact with Magic Carpet was positive. The agent assigned to me seemed to be helpful and knowledgeable and was even willing to price-match a competitor's price.

But as the time drew near for my car to get picked up I started to be concerned. I had not heard anything from Magic Carpet since my initial contact. On the day before the planned pick up I called my Magic Carpet representative to find out what was going on. The agent returned my call and said that yes, a driver had been identified and that she would call me back as soon as it was finalized. I didn't hear back from her but I got an email saying she would be out on medical leave starting the next day and that I was being transferred to another agent.

On the morning of the pick-up I heard from the new agent and she let me know the driver was on his way. At that point she told me the total cost of the transport - it was $166 more than the original quote. This was the first I had heard of any price increase. Now, I would have been fine paying more based on market rates if they had told me about it ahead of time. Instead they wait until the driver is on his way to pick up my car to tell me the rate had gone up. At that point I felt it was too late to cancel and find another carrier who would be straight with me. But I thought it was bad form to not tell me until the last minute right before I moved.

Happily, the driver was fantastic and honest and got our car to our new state quickly and without any problems. So all's well that end's well?

By the way, Magic Carpet's policy states that if I did not feel I could give them a 5-star rating to contact them so they could make it right. $166 back would have made it right for me. But I left a message both their corporate office and the representative assigned to me over a week ago and never heard back.

Rachel - I am sorry you felt you had a negative experience. I was out of the office on surgical leave and wish the communication on our end would have been better, then the additional funds would not have been a surprise. If I would have been here, you would have known everything. In the future, if I am able to help - I will be here and will make your experience a much more pleasant one. Kristaan
