I would say that I had a poor experience with Magic Carpet Auto Transport - it did not live up to its 5-start review!

My difficulties began when I attempted to email the company a month and a half before I wanted to transport my car - five attempts, never an email back. I did receive a phone call, to which I responded by email that I was out of the country and would prefer to communicate by email. No response. I should have known at that point not to choose this service, but I decided to stick with the company with the best star rating. Bad decision.

When I decided to go ahead and place the order, five days before I wanted the car picked up, I was told on the phone that it would be reasonable to expect the car to be picked up on that date, and that I would receive a phone call later that day, or within a couple of days, with more details. No phone call. On the day I was expecting the car to be picked up, I called the company and was told that there had not been enough time to arrange the pickup, and that the agreement stated that a carrier would be arranged within 2-7 days of order placement - but that the weekends and public holidays didn't count. (I went back and checked the agreement and never found this clause, by the way). This first employee was polite, but unable to help. When I explained what I had been told before and asked to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor was VERY rude and was alsol unable to help.

Nine days after I placed the order, an employee called and told me that a carrier was willing to pick up my vehicle - for $50 more than my quoted price. I told the employee that I was not willing to pay more for a service that was already late, even by their own standards.

Eventually, the car was picked up by that carrier anyway, and Magic Carpet called to let me know that they had decided to "take the hit" themselves by lessening the deposit and to give the carrier the amount they had requested, so that the amount billed to me would remain unchanged. I appreciate this, but don't consider it a special favor, since they were charging me the agreed-upon amount for a service that was actually delayed already.

Magic Carpet offers a rebate of $50 for submitting a review - and incidentally, the quoted price is the actual price minus this $50. I was hesitant to post a negative review, in case it prevented me from receiving the rebate. I will be posting again to let you all know if I don't receive the rebate because I have been honest in my review.

Beverly, Im sorry you felt the service was not up to par with our company. It is a hard route to get vehicles moved. We did the best we could to explain this with our knowledge and experience of the industry. We are glad however that you did get your vehicle transported and that things really did go smoothly with that. Michelle
