Almost Worthless

The services which Magic Carpet Auto Transport (MCAT) provided to me were almost worthless. I placed an order with them to provide me with transportation for my truck from Massachusetts to Texas in 7 days. What they gave me was a carrier who delivered the truck in 23 days and damaged it. MCAT’s main role ends when the carrier picks up the vehicle. As the 7 days stretched into 23 I discovered that MCAT is almost powerless in getting the truck delivered.
The communication from MCAT was very poor during these 23 days. One of MCAT’s main selling points is that they assign one person to be the “client assistant” for each order. I didn’t find much value in this and I found communication with MCAT to be a real hassle.
I placed my order with MCAT several weeks in advance. After that I heard nothing from them until I called my client assistant, Kathy Ashlock, 4 days (2 weekdays) before my vehicle was supposed to be picked up. It was only then that they found a carrier to transport my vehicle.
My truck was picked up on a Monday and supposed to be delivered the following Monday. I didn’t receive a call from MCAT until two days after the original delivery date. Kathy called to inquire “how it went with the Tacoma?” She had no idea that the vehicle had not been delivered and that the carrier had not called. She was able to get the carrier to call me and I consider this the best benefit I received from the money I paid MCAT.
But as the days wore on I heard less and less from Kathy. When I did reach her she would report that no one from MCAT was able to reach anyone at the carrier. That was about it for MCAT’s role in the transport of my vehicle. The delivery was way overdue, the carrier was not communicating and there wasn’t anything MCAT could do about it.
In summary, MCAT’s main role in the delivery of my vehicle was to select a carrier who could get the job done. In that role they failed miserably. In their 2nd role as communicator they were only slightly better. I would rather have selected the carrier myself and kept the money I paid MCAT.
