BE CAREFUL-YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE AT RISK

We purchased a vehicle in NY state to be shipped to our home. When it arrived, there was clearly damage not noted on the pickup condition sheet. The driver admitted damaging our vehicle in shipment, and offered us the option of some cash on the spot or to send us a check after an estimate was obtained from a body shop. We chose to get an estimate(it was $874) & notified Magic Carpet. They gave us the transporters insurance info, but after investigation, it turns out the transport company's deductible is $1000, so we are stuck with the repairs. The transporter no longer answers their cellphone of record or e-mail, so they have "disappeared". Magic Carpet's response has been that it's not their fault, so they have no responsibility. One would think, in the interest of good customer service, they would be willing to help, but their position is that the terms of agreement absolve them from any responsibility.You would hope they would be willing to take some responsibility based on the fact that they choose the transporter and should have some idea of a transporter's reliability. I would caution anyone thinking of hiring a vehicle transport to consider this before making a decision. I could have flown in to pick up this vehicle and driven it home for far less than my total cost will be once I have it repaired.

Stephen, I do apologize for the damages done to your vehicle. We have tried reaching the carrier, just as you have. We have provided you with their insurance information. I also gave you some advise to resolve the issue. I suggested that you take carrier to small claims court or have your insurance go after them, after all thats why we pay insurance companies. I could not refund the cost of the shipping because you did not pay us for the transport. Again I do apologize for the damages and inconvenience the driver has caused. -Crystal Warner-
