VEHICLE TRANSPORT REVIEW

I paid Magic Carpet Auto to broker the movement of 2 of my vehicles. I am writing a more detailed review as I got a call from MOBILE TRANSPORT, INC (SPOKANE , WA) who felt I unfairly reviewed Magic Carpet Auto. This additional review is a more expanded than my first review to let the reader decide how they would rate Magic Carpet Auto.

VEHICLE ONE
Honda Accord
Transport company: CLASSIC AUTO TRANSPORTATION

Pick up date: on time
Delivery date: on time

OVERALL Experience: The driver was polite. I was present and able to watch them record all details including mileage. They loaded the vehicle and left within 30 minutes. Magic Carpet Auto delivered on it's claims of a smooth process. They were very responsive and kept me updated.

VEHICLE TWO
Audi A4
Transport Company: MOBILE TRANSPORT, INC

PICK UP DATE: one day LATE despite a 3 day window and I had already made plans which could not be changed. I had a moving truck with all my stuff and my 60k BMW on the back, so I had to leave as I originally planned. Instead I had to delegate this to my friend. So I can't comment on the pickup process/professionalism.

DELIVERY DATE: one day EARLIER than scheduled. I was driving 2600 miles across country and didn't want it to get there early because of the long distance I was traveling. Instead the vehicle was parked in some barren gravel/rock filled impound lot next to many other vehicles. The tires were caked in mud and dirt. Imagine your precious Audi all caked in dirt like it was 4 wheeling. The guy who had the vehicle barely spoke english. I had to drive 50miles from my house to pick it up. The carbon copy of the forms he gave me were barely legible and surprise!!! no origination Milage listed. I signed everything as I had to leave and get back to work. The car had NO gas in it. The needle was just touching EMPTY. I had filled it up just before dropping it off with my friend who delivered the vehicle. All the seats were readjusted. The airfreshners were all on the wrong vents and the heat was turned all the way up. The car was coming from the South and I had left the AC in the on position because of the 100 deg 100 % humidity. So I wonder how and why the car had the heat blaring when I got it. The right rear tire was 10PSI lower than all the other tires. The car felt like it was pulling to the left. Took it to SEARS the NEXT day to get the tire tire looked at. They said the low tire ruined the alignment and the tire was unfixable because of a large nail puncture.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Initially I would have given it zero stars, but after an infuriating call from the transporter company I would give it NEGATIVE 5 stars. They called to try to convince me to change the rating I gave Magic Auto Carpet saying it was not their fault. Ultimately the brokerage i.e. Magic Carpet decides who they broker their services to. I would have to agree that they are not directly responsible for the damages to my car, but they hold the responsibility of choosing ethical and reliable transporters. Mobile Transport, Inc went onto blame me for not inspecting the vehicle. There was no origination mileage to verify mileage or damages. Then, they went onto blaming my friend for the damages and driving my vehicle. So somehow the car went from 10 gallons of gas to 1 gallon of gas sitting in my friends driveway overnight. However if they were on time, I would have never had to leave it to someone else. It was a huge waste of my time even trying to talking to the company. The worse waste of 45min of my life. Bottom line is that MOBILE TRANSPORT INC screwed up the move from the start to the finish. They did not take any responsibility for their deficiencies and mistakes. Instead of rectifying the problem and acting professionally, they blamed everyone else. I WOULD NEVER TRUST A 500DOLLAR PINTO/KIA WITH MOBILE TRANSPORT INC.

Tallying up how much objectively this company has cost me:

TIME: 2hrs to drive there and back to pick up vehicle + 45 min talking on the phone with the stupid transport company = 550 dollars ( I make 200dollars an hour)
DURABLE COSTS: I had to use my 60k BMW to drive those 100 miles which is 75 cents per mile to drive 100x0.75 = 75 dollars (not including the additional mileage to my vehicle)
DAMAGES: 300 dollar tire + 200dollar alignment. (if I include time for me to deliver the vehicle for repairs, then add another 2 hours. Another 400 dollars. )
GRAND TOTAL OF THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE: 1525 USD (I didn't even include the cost of time for my friend to come along to drive my car back as I drove the audi)

OVERALL EXPERIENCE:

For a 950 dollar vehicle move, I actually spent over 2400 dollars. I would have to let the reader decide how to rate that. There was NO door to door service. The service WAS NOT on time from the pickup to the delivery. When talking to Mobile Transport Inc, I tried to explain to them ratings are completely subjective and that is why I detailed the rating I gave Magic Carpet Auto. Instead of acknowledging the facts, Mobile Transport Inc argued with me and insisted that I change the rating instead of fixing the problem they created. RATINGS ARE SUBJECTIVE, but my comments are based on the facts of what happened. If you look at the scale, ZERO STARS corresponds to a “POOR EXPERIENCE & WOULD NOT USE AGAIN” Magic Carpet Auto are nice people and they seem like a good business given that they have now dropped Mobile Transport Inc. But ultimately, they had the responsibility of choosing a good transporter company as that was the service fee that I paid for them. They DID NOT deliver on the time line contracted or the door to door service. When it comes down to it, I would NOT trust ANY brokerage/transporter with a vehicle worth more than 20k. You are almost guaranteed to have something go wrong and pay for an experience that is going to be atleast 10% the cost of the vehicle.
