I have used a broker twice in the past to transport my car. This time around the company I have used in the past was charging a high price relative to other quotes I received, so I decided to try Magic Carpet because they had great reviews and initially quoted a reasonable price. I waited about 5 weeks before placing my order from my initial inquiry and due to the nature of the business, the quote was about $300 higher. That being said, I would understand the higher price because of peak season if they were able to deliver on their promise. I was very flexible on my dates and waited three weeks with no driver before canceling my order with them. No one ever initiated a call to follow up on my order. While it was very easy to cancel with them, I was paying for a service where I had to call repeatedly to get updates and they ended up wasted three weeks of my time. Reasonably, my car could have been picked up, transported, and arrived at my destination in 21 days. They promised a 10 day window for pick-up and never delivered on that promise or bothered to rectify it on their own once they realized a driver hadn't called. I understand it is a volume business and the loss of one customer is not a big deal to them, but I certainly expect better customer service after they book your order. Magic carpet was full of excuses as to why the car was not moving (driver was not receiving cash up front, it's the busiest season, I can't do anything but post it on the board, etc.) They spend so much of their time selling their service to you instead of fulfilling their promise. I would not recommend them to anyone who is looking for a reliable transport service.
