This review is for Magic Carpet Auto Transport and Jason England. I was helping my daughter ship her car from NJ to WI where she was going to be attending college. After researching transport companies on line and collecting many price quotes, we went with Magic Carpet Auto Transport. Theirs was neither the highest nor the lowest quote we received; it was in the middle of the pack. We selected Magic Carpet though because of the number of positive reviews on such sites as Transport Review and because of their BBB rating. Our broker was Jason England. Jason was courteous, respectful and helpful throughout the entire process. He explained the entire process, including how a transport bid is posted and either accepted or countered. We started the process a full 2 weeks before the shipping date and were flexible with when the car could be picked up. We had a firm date, however, before which the vehicle could not be delivered as there would be no one at that end to accept delivery. The initial bid was $550 (before broker's commission). One carrier responded that they could match our dates, but they wanted an additional $150 above the bid price. This was steep for my daughter, so she tried to negotiate the price down but the carrier would not budge. Jason stepped in to help, offering to split the difference with us - lowering his commission by $75 while increasing our total cost by $75 rather than $150. We accepted the offer, paying a total of $700 (before broker's commission) for the transport. The truck carrier arrived on the scheduled date, but not until 8 PM. It delivered the car on the scheduled date, at noon. There were a few issues with the truck driver, which are not a reflection on either Magic Carpet or Jason. This issues arose in part because my wife and daughter noted some damage to the bottom of the front bumper while the car was still on the truck, apparently from extreme scraping going on/off the carrier which the driver denied and, in part, because the additional $150 the carrier charged cost the driver any chance of receiving a tip. Jason was excellent at following up with me throughout the entire shipping process, and for several days after the car was delivered. He even went as far as to send me the forms if we wanted to put in an insurance claim for the damage and to review the before/after pictures to offer his opinion. We did not file a claim against the carrier, since the pictures were inconclusive. My recommendation to anyone is that in addition to taking pictures of the normal items (fenders, quarter panels, doors, grill, bumpers, glass) from normal angles to get on your hands and knees to take close up pictures of the lower, leading edge of your bumpers. This is where damage is most likely to occur from the car carrier. Now, I do not anticipate that I will need to ship another car anytime soon, but knowing what I do now after going through all of the online free quotes and the extensive research, if I did ship again my first call would be to Magic Carpet and Jason England to get a quote. I feel that I can trust it to be a fair price, and that they will be there to help at each step in the process.
