So never having transported my car before I have heard nightmare stories from some people who have and seen some on here as well. After searching this site, I finally come across Magic Carpet as a responsible, reasonably priced option. I filled out everything needed on their website Thursday June 16. Within in UNDER AN HOUR I get a phone call from Don Treece confirming my order. Looking back on all of this I must say first and foremost Don was great to deal with this entire time. Gave me updates whenever I called. If he didnt answer you just leave a message and he gets back to you within a very reasonable time.

Ok so I square things all away with Don. Told him I'd need pickup for the 24/25th as I was moving out of CA on the 26th. Having seen one of my housemates leave earlier this month and his car sitting in our driveway for 2 weeks AFTER the time he scheduled his pickup (with another company) I knew I could not have that happen to me. Again thinking of all the horror stories I had read on here about delayed pickups I made it clear to Don that I was fine if it arrived a day or two after the estimated time he told me but that it HAD to be picked up no later than the 25th. He politely assure me that if anything it would be picked up earlier if not on that date. I was quoted 1175 witih a 30$ rebate. Knowing that most places do this between 950 and 1100 I felt fine paying a little extra after reading way more 5 star reviews than I had seen anywhere else. From what it seems you really get what you pay for this biz so I didnt mind putting a little extra in if it meant my stuff getting picked up/delivered on time.

Upon hanging up with Don....literally in UNDER 30 minutes I get a phone call again from him telling me within minutes of him putting my order "on the boards" which I assume is where the truckers pick things etc. A carrier picked up the job and I was all confirmed. I was happy and very surprised. CAA Transport would be the company bringing my car cross country. From the reviews however as I saw there was a mix bag of negative and positive stuff about CAA, a lot of the negative stuff talking about major damage to cars, mean/rude drivers and very late pickups and/or drop offs. However there was mainly good stuff about their long hauler cross country drivers. It seems there is CAA and CAA California (one for long haul and one for just in CA as they are based in Downey CA the pickup driver told me). As well Don assured me that Magic Carpet uses the same 5-7 drivers cross country back and forth and that they have yet to get any complaints about their services in particular. Anything that happens along transport as well he said they call it in and the car owner is informed ASAP and the all is figured out easy peezy.

Fast forward June 25th. Was told the pickup driver would arrive between 1230 and 3....driver calls around 10 am to confirm that as well. Driver arrives on time....actually early to my surprise. As recomended by friends I document everything on my car. the few scratches and the one ding...took a couple photos and was done. BUT here's the interesting thing...the part that told me I could breath a little easier with this company. The driver who came to pickup my car proceedes to take out a little digital camera of his own and take about 15 or so photos circiling the car and the the roof so that he too could have record of the exact condition of my car. (Good job dudes!)

Told Don I'd like to have my car by July 2-4...I know a tall order to fill but I also figured these guys would want to get this car back to me by or on the 4th so they wouldnt get stuck in holiday traffic with the delivery but also noted that if need be I could wait until the 5th latest the 6th as Don noted that exact drop times can't be guaranteed.

July 1 rolls around I call CAA for an update and they tell me late Sunday afternoon July 3 I could expect my car...most likely between 3 and 6 pm. They gave me the trucker's (Piao) number and where he had checked in as of this morning and where his next check in would be and when (as then after that check in he'd be in CT the following day). I call the trucker to confirm all that he tells me he is making great time and on schedule. Very happy to see I am not getting a run around at this point.

Ok now July 3 rolls around...2pm I get a call and it's Piao telling me he is off the highway at the home depot with my car. I will note my house is up a hill and I would not expect 10-12 car carrier semi to try to navigate those streets and told him that if he found a big open space (such as the home depot where he stopped) there would be no problem meeting him there to re-take possession of my vehicle. Again very surprised (yet happy) that my car had arrived earlier in the day and exactly as they had told me for ETA. Gave him the remaining COD minus the deposit and gave my car a one over to see no damage...not dents, dings scratches or anything beyond what I had noted. And AGAIN the company documents the entire car with cameras front to back and roof for their records. These guys really know their stuff and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a West Coat to East Coast transport of their car! Thanks again Magic Carpet great job!
