Earlier this year I had the unfortunate experience of utilizing Jordan Transervice to transport my vehicle from Illinois to Florida. Jordan Transervice was recommended to me through a "Broker" service, Patriot Auto Carriers. I was assured by the Broker that Jordan Transervice was a professional and reputable company to transport my vehicle. I transported a rare and expensive BMW 5 Series and elected to transport the vehicle in an enclosed carrier for the best protection possible. I arranged to have Jordan Transervice's carrier pick up my vehicle where I had just had it meticulously detailed. I was quite surprised when I saw the semi trailer carrier arrive. The interior and exterior condition was very dirty and the interior condition of the carrier where the my vehicle was to "stored" for transport was both worn and beat up looking. I realize that numerous vehicles are transported and wear and tear does occur, however I believe that in a professional environment with proper care and attention to detail, this should not be the case. The driver of the transport carrier looks over the vehicle and if any blemishes are present they are noted on a form that both the driver of the carrier and owner of the vehicle acknowledge and sign.
A pre arranged date was established between myself and Jordan Transervice and their dispatch department. Days before my vehicle was scheduled to arrive at my residence in Florida, I elected to phone Jordan Transervice to check on the status of the transport carrier's location. My call was met with confusion. When I initially made arrangements for transportation, I inquired about the route the carrier would be taking from Illinois to Florida. I was assured that the route to be taken in transport would be directly South and perhaps one or more vehicles would be loaded into the carrier along the way. I also had pre arranged to have my vehicle on the very top level of the the two tier carrier and in front, as I did not want any oils or antifreeze dripping onto my vehicle. The first story I was given was that transport carrier had to go to different states and zig zag, going out of the way. And in the same conversation after I queried further I was told that the original transport carrier had hydraulic problems and my vehicle had to be switched to another carrier. I believe that as a professional courtesy this information should have been conveyed to me for planning purposes as I modified my schedule to accommodate that of Jordan Transervice's delivery. During the transport process another dispatcher had phoned my home and was trying to confirm the transport, however this dispatcher stated that my vehicle had not yet left the state of Illinois. All of this information was conflicting from what I just had been previously told. I had made numerous calls throughout the transport process and even expressed to the person from Patriot Auto Carriers who "Brokered" the transaction as to my dissatisfaction in the lack of care and professionalism of this transport experience.
My vehicle arrived late. When the carrier arrived and before it was off loaded I looked at my vehicle from the curb side as it was inside the carrier. My vehicle was on the bottom level underneath an old vehicle when I specifically insisted on having it on top. My vehicle was extremely dirty. It looked as if someone wet the car with a hose and dust and dirt was blown all over it especially the front hood, roof and trunk area. And my vehicle was in this condition eventhough it was in an enclosed carrier! The roof had large dirt deposits. If that wasn't bad enough, on the rear of the trunk area someone had used their finger and made "swirl" marks in the dirt. I could not believe what I was witnessing. I noted damage on the driver's side mirror. And I pointed out the excessive dirt deposits on the roof pointing out damage. The top of the roof had been scraped from the top portion of the roof of the carrier. When I pointed out the damage areas to the driver, he said not to worry to call Jordan Transervice and they will take care of any damages. The driver was in somewhat of a hurry to leave. Monies for the vehicle transport must be paid at time of delivery or you cannot take possession of your vehicle. You cannot simply refuse to pay because of your vehicles condition. When I phoned Jordan Transervice and spoke with my contact and explained the damages and mentioned that the driver did not want to note and document the damages, he said to send my information to him. After the driver left, I brought my Vehicle to BMW to have it washed within 20 minutes of delivery. It was just as I had pointed out, damage to the roof where the driver scraped it loading and off loading my vehicle into the carrier. The excessive dirt deposits were the points of contact with the roof of the carrier and where the damages occurred. When I phoned to speak to with my contact person, again he was not available. He did not return my calls. I immediately contacted the Broker of Patriot Auto Carriers, to make him aware of the situation and damages. I faxed all the information to Jordan Transervice and also left yet another message. I was finally given a number to Jordan Transervice's claims department. The department of contact I was given was incorrect. After more calls, I was given the number of Jordan Transervice's Insurance company. The company noted the information and all the information I faxed. The owner of Jordan Transervice did not want to take care of any claim, therefore the Insurance company would not further assist in the matter. I spoke with the owner of Jordan Transervice himself on the phone. I felt that his treatment toward me as a customer was non caring, and he was not helpful. I had been very professional and courteous with everyone concerned during my transport experience. I elected to contact the Broker at Patriot Auto Carrier to assist me with the situation and damage claim and he assured me that he would do everything possible to get my claim settled to take care of my vehicle's damage. Since the Insurance company was not processing a claim because they were instructed by the owner of Jordan Transervice not to do so, I was not supported by any of the aforementioned parties with my claim.
