First time shipping a car, early 2000s Toyota corolla, southern California to Washington. I didn't know where to look. I started to research and first looked at road runner as they were the first to come up on Google. They called me and told me it was 950 and said they would call the driver directly to give me a final price on the spot (without signing a contract) . Few minutes later he tells me it's only 1040 total. I declined. After more research, I came across an a site (I forgot which) I'm which I had to put in all my information. A few minutes later I was bombarded with carriers that were giving me quotes from 799 to 899. I couldn't keep up. I researched almost 5 to 6 different carriers and I was skeptical about all of them. I came across Alex (whom I initially didn't trust) and he told me exactly how carriers act as "brokers" and connect independent drivers with the customers shipping their cars. He told me his limitations as a carrier to get the final price until a contract is signed and later to be inputted into some national loading board. There seems to be a discrepancy amongst several carriers about when they can can give you the final price, some say before a contract is signed and others say only after it is signed. I found that the carriers that promise final prices BEFORE a contract is signed usually have really bad ratings. I remember reading about people signing contracts and then never hearing from their carriers until a few days before their pick up date. Then also seemingly increasing their promised final price after their car has been delivered. Anyways I took a leap and signed with Alex. His quote was 875. I opted to do everything online so Alex sent me the contact on secureserviceform . com. The final price was 950. Now that I think about it, I never spoke to Alex directly and always just felt more comfortable texting. He sent me some lengthy texts about what to expect and answering any questions i had (I had quite a few). I think Alex went above and beyond my expectations as he didn't get annoyed and just stop replying (as I read some carriers do when you sign your contract). He also checked up on me prior to my car getting picked up (to see if the driver had communicated with me). I was charged an initial 150 on my credit card only after the driver picked up my car. Dan was also outstanding in terms of communicating when he will arrive, traffic he came across, eta on deliver. Dan couldn't deliver it exactly at my place due to the street being too small for the truck so we agreed on a reasonable place for both of us. It was the closest main street to my place (few minutes walk away). Dan dropped off my car and I paid him the remaining 800 with a combination of cash (600) and PayPal (200). It would have been much more convenient for me if I would have known I could pay via PayPal/venmo (just depends on your driver). Anyways I signed a paper from Dan, then got my car back. I had a very very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend! Hassle free! Oh, I also had some technical issues with my card. I received some phone calls from 2 other people from getcarrier to get the new card information. I had to input my card info online maybe 2 to 3 different times. They weren't pushy or rude about it so that was a big plus for me.
