Back in 2005 i had my 1995 Chevy Silverado shipped from Austin, Tx to Seattle, Wa where i was stationed in the military. My folks put the truck on the trailer facing forward and made sure everyting was locked and secured, including the very expensive hard top bed cover. When the truck arrived late to the seattle area, i was told that the bed cover had come off in shipment and struck a vehicle that was on the trailer behind it. Odd since the cover was locked and the truck was facing forward. Gator auto transport wanted my insurance information and refused to release the truck to me until they got it. They said it was being held in federal way which is 30 miles south of seattle. So i took a cab to the shipping yard and there was no sign of my vehicle, i drove to another yard just to be sure, still no sign of the vehicle. After an hour or 2 trying to get ahold of the driver and also the owner of Gator Auto transport i was told the vehicle would be dropped off the next day, but for no good reason. I began to get really suspicious and the next day i was STILL refused access to my vehicle. I finally got ahold of the driver and asked him to deliver my vehicle to seattle, he had "mechanical issues" and would not state his location. Then once the mechanical issues were resolved I was told that he was out of hours and could not drive that day. I wound up taking a bus to his hotel and picked up my truck, it was the only vehicle on his trailer and was facing forward. LOCKED hard top flys off on a forward facing truck and the driver refuses to release it until he had my insurance information? Sounds fishy right? Well when he handed me the keys he also handed me an old insurance card that he pulled out of the glovebox in an attempt to defraud my insurance company. I had to file a claim and the insurance company did an investigation and deemed that it was the carriers' fault. The hard top was never replaced, i had marks on the top of the bed were somebody had pried up on the cover, the latch points were damaged with a screwdriver as well. I just found this website and i'm glad i did because it was a very frustrating and painfull experience. Gator Auto transport is a bunch of crooks.
