Here's the facts: I agreed to a quote for the price of $1085 on July 19th for an enclosed carrier from Fremont, California to Blaine, Washington to be picked up July 28th. Nine days of notice to have the vehicle picked up is more than ample time to prepare. I of course was mindful of the following disclaimer from G&L: "However, please bear in mind that due to traffic conditions, weather, and other delays, the pick up and delivery dates are estimates only and could vary + or - one day"

Considering that the entire westcoast was experiencing record dry days and excellent traffic conditions (I'm a transportation manager that ships perishble product to California 6 days/week), I could not see this being a problem. I get an e-mail from G&Lon July 25th about my vehicle only to learn that it will not be picked up until July 31st (4 days after the requested pickup). Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is more than +/- 1 Day.

This was completely unnacceptable for so many reasons. First, the storage fees for my vehicle were piling up. Second, the vehicle would arrive at the border on a weekend forcing it to be left either on an open road uninsured, or again pay another storage facility to hold it for the weekend. And third, the insurance storage policy I did have would expire at midnight on July 31st.

In a frantic panic, I called G&L and demanded they find another carrier and offer an explanation. Apparently the carrier had some cancellations and wanted to stay in California until he could get a full load. So I told Fred from G&L he had to come up with another carrier. Of course to no surprise, no enclosed carriers could be found on such short notice but he was able to locate an open carrier for the price of $785... $285 more than I was quoted before on an open carrier. I was basically told to take the truck or have luck finding one on my own on short notice. Pretty much had my back against a wall so I agreed. And of course I was then asked to put a deposit down even though their policy states that they don't require a deposit. So more lies now.

The company that was to pick up my car was basically a guy working a cellular phone who pretty much worked from Noon until 2 pm and would otherwise not answer his phone or EVER call you back. They were given typed instructions on what to do with the car when they got to the border and under no circumstances to cross into Canada. So the nightmare continues.

My car was picked up on July 29th... I was told it would definately arrive by August 31st and no later than 3:30 pm as that's when the border services closes for vehicle exportation. Well of course the transportation guys decide to take their sweet time of visiting his relatives and friends (of which he was kind enough to pick up on his way to Blaine and have him come along for a quick trip; nice guys but total idiots) so he finally ended up in Bellingham on the 31st at night! So for more fun, he has now planned to arrive at the border on CANADA DAY (July 1st), basically a border nightmare. Instead of heading right over in the morning, as I was told since he was in 30 min away from border, he and his friend decide to show up at 2:40 ish in the afternoon. To make it even more fun, they thought it would be easier to cross into Canada directly.

Give you one guess what the Border Agents wanted to do?... 2 German guys who hardly speak english... no passports and no proof of US citizenship. So as they get raped by the Canadian border guards and then l explain the situation, they are then extradited around to the US side... well if you thought the Canadian border agents were fun... oh my... the US side is a BLAST! They want to inspect everything including my new car and ME! Oh joy... so watching as the clock tick down to 3:24... we are finally released to export the vehicle. Made it with minutes to spare. I spared a lot more of the fun details of how aweful this experience this was. Next time, I will listen to myself when I say "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". Stay away from G&L BROKERS (BTW, take them off the carriers list).

FIRST WE ARE NOT SHIPPING PERISHBLE PRODUCTS, WE RECIVED THE ORDER ON 07-19 AND DISPATCHED THE ORDER ON 07-25 THATS IS 6 DAYS, BUT THE DELIVERY DATE WAS NOT OK WITH MR QUACH. WE FOUND ANOTHER CARRIER ON THE SAME DAY [07-25] TO PICK UP THE CAR ON 07-29 AND STRESSED TO PETR AT BELTRANS THAT THE CAR HAD TO BE BLAIN WA ON 07-31 BEFORE 3.30 PM AS THE BORDER CLOSED AT THAT TIME. PETR ASSURED HE WOULD HAVE THE CAR THAIR ON DATE AND ON TIME. G&L STRESS TO EVERY CUSTOMER TO CALL IF THERE IS ANY PROBLEMS, WE NEVER HEARD FROM FROM MR QUACH AFTER THAT, WE ALSO ASK MR QUACH TO CALL US ON ARRIVAL OF HIS VEHICLE. HE NEVER DID SO. AS FAR AS THE REST OF THE REST OF MR QUACHS STORY WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF A DRIVER TRYING TO CROSS THE BORDER INTO CANADA. OR HAVING ANY TROUBLE WITH SAID BORDER GUARDS.FRED P DISPATCHER G L ENTERPRISE
