My Antique Curio Arrived Smashed - Ruined!

It took over a month to receive family Antique furniture shipped from California. Freight Center ASSURED me the items would be blanket wrapped and packed safely. One item arrived in okay condition, but our family's antique curio cabinet was smashed. Shattered! In pieces. The estimate for repair was $1444. I paid for $2000 in insurance. From the moment I placed the claim I was given the run around. "We are just the broker. We will do our best to help resolve the problem, but the claim is going to "Home Direct" who shipped your items." Home Direct denied our claim. Freight Center resubmitted. It was denied a second time and closed stating "damage was pre-existing"!! Who ships a smashed cabinet! I have now had to hire a lawyer . . . we have to sue "Home Direct" since they were the carrier. But I wouldn't use either of these businesses again!
