Horrible experience with Freight Brokers of America

As a quick breakdown here's what I've experience with Mike at Freight Brokers of America:

- Dishonest sales tactics
- Quoted low, raised price
- Poor customer services
- Missed car delivery date (even after booking pick up a day early)
- Did not receive discount for booking online

Freight Brokers of America doesn't work close enough with their carriers to know their limitations. As a result they will:
- Quote you low then charge you more
- Setup pick up dates so that the car arrives within 7-10 days ignoring the carriers may not work on Sundays

The following is a detailed breakdown of my experience...

ORDERING THE PICKUP
May 15th: I was quoted $940 to ship my car. If I booked online it would be $25 off.

I spoke with Mike on the phone for a good 20 minutes he assured me:
- The price wouldn't change
- My car would arrive within 7 - 10 days, so my car would arrive on Sunday June 21st at the latest. Mike said we need to setup the pick up date June 12th or earlier to be safe
- He then said he would be there with me any step of they way, I can call or text his cell or email with questions at any time
- He walked me through how to book online bringing to total price down to $915
- My pick up date was set for June 11th re-affirming that the car would arrive no later than sunday June 21st

May 18th: Order placed with Freight Brokers

PURCHASE CONFIRMATION
June 8th: I get a purchase confirmation that my $100 deposit has been made

Deposit email: http://oi62.tinypic.com/6o0tjr.jpg

June 9th: I get a voicemail and text from Mike to get in touch he has an update
- I call him back and he says he's got someone who will do it but they want "an extra $40"
- I ask what happened to the quote not changing the answer was "this is everyone who's shipping cars and I'm not making much money over here"
- Because I need the car shipped I say it's fine and we move forward

Text from Mike: http://oi62.tinypic.com/2la3qkk.jpg

I'm not sure what would have happened if I declined to move forward due to the additional cost. They had already charged me for the deposit. If I had backed out the results could have been bad.

FOLLOW UP ON PURCHASE
June 11th: I have not hear anything or received any emails. I text Mike asking to confirm the total I have to have to give the drive is $855
- Mike tells me it's $880 (Total $980 - Deposit $100 = Carrier pay $880)
- I ask what happened to the $25 for booking online
- Mike says "I gave it to you. & I contributed $25 to the carrier pay. I always charge $150-$200 deposit. You got $100"

Math must be difficult, but here's how I expect it to work:
Original quote: +$940
Online booking discount: -$25
Extra cost added: +$40
Final expected total: $955

Deposit of $100
Carrier pay SHOULD have been $855

To me, this is deceptive and dishonest.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT
June 11th: I email Mike to find out who I need to make the Money Order out to
- Reply is an excellent example of customer support: "You have to ask the carrier company"
- So much for being there every step of the way

Email: http://oi59.tinypic.com/1zqbkvp.jpg

- Mike never provided me with contact information for the carrier company
- I got this contact information directly from the carrier company who called me

ARRIVAL OF VEHICLE
June 18th: No new information on shipping; I call the carrier company to find out when I should expect my car
- They tell me it will likely arrive Monday June 22nd or Tuesday June 23rd (2 days late)
- I explain I was told it would arrive no later than Sunday
- The carrier company doesn't work on Sundays and do half-days on Saturdays, so for them it's technically 10 days
- Mike at Freight Brokers of America never communicated this and was completely off on the due date

June 20th: Get a call from the carrier, car will arrive Monday morning
June 22nd: Car arrives completely intact, no damage

All told this has been a very poor experience. Mike and Freight Brokers of America don't have their act together. They will say whatever they want to get your business and then leave you to your own devices to work with the carrier directly. After a price hike obviously.

DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU GO WITH THEM, especially if you have need by dates that need to be met.
