A friend had the keys to the storage unit in Illinois, I was out of state in Seattle, and the pickup day in Illinois turned out to be at the height of a flood, and I tried to cancel but my agent could not contact Flying Ryan, and no one would call me. Flying Ryan charged $400 to figure out how to get the car out of my Illinois storage unit anyway and made up a $200 charge for our delaying his delivery, though never called any contact number before or when he arrived. He argued with my son at the Idaho delivery point, would not take the certified check he had demanded and which I had driven 18 hours to have ready. He said he would keep the car as collateral and drove away, hitting my son who was standing in front of the truck to stop him. Son called the state police who stopped him. So, on a weekend, with me out of town, with tight pockets due to holding a worthless cashiers check he wouldn't take in part payment, I wrangled the cash he now demanded for original payment plus the $600 sneaky money and got the car. The police said that he knew how to skip along the edge of the ICC regs and we could have an expensive legal battle for months if we wanted to do anything. He even got out of the assault and battery and hit and run. I really blame the shipping agent for getting me to use this outfit and not managing it per our contractual agreement.
