Dishonest or Inexperienced?

I hired First Class Auto to transport my vehicle after they quoted a price of $650. We scheduled a pick-up date of 4/23. A $150 deposit was sent at the time of scheduling. They were unable to secure a driver by 4/23 and I was forced to leave my vehicle in FL with a neighbor while I returned to MN. I continued to follow up with Josh at First Class Auto, who indicated drivers for the FL/MN route were backed up and he couldn't secure a driver unless I paid an additional $150. I begrudgingly agreed to the increase, however, nearly 2 weeks passed and still the vehicle was in FL. Josh then indicated he needed another $150 to get my vehicle home. He agreed to reimburse me $50 of the additional charges. Three weeks past the original date, First Class Auto had still not secured a driver for the vehicle. Josh's manager said we could try to find someone else and they'd return our deposit. I agreed and they did return the deposit.

I sought out a more resourceful company in which to work and hired All-State Carriers, who was able to pick-up my vehicle in 2 days for $875. They had EXCELLENT customer service skills and exceeded our expectations.

I found First Class Auto's business practices to be either non-professional and dishonest or they're inexperienced and not qualified to provide an accurate quote up front. Assuming they were experts in the field, I relied on them to provide a realistic quote that would get my vehicle to MN as scheduled. By low-balling the quote, they secured me as a customer but couldn't hold up their end of the deal. Other auto transport brokers I called indicated that NO driver would pick up my vehicle for less than $800-900 at that time of year, on that particular route. First Class Auto's dishonesty caused unnecessary stress, worry, and frustration for both me and my neighbor, who graciously assisted me.
