Moving from California to Texas proved to be quite a headache. One of the smoother experiences, though, was when I dealt with Fast Motion Auto Transport.
I initially contacted them via their website on the chat program, asking a few basic questions of the faceless person on the other end of the chat. When my questions began to get more specific in nature, the faceless person on the other end of the chat urged me to call him, I did, and was introduced to the affable and efficient David Mena. David patiently answered all my questions, was able to narrow down a solid time frame for pick up and delivery and, most importantly, gave me a quote that seemed more than reasonable. No way I thought I'd get our car from San Francisco to Texas for less than a thousand dollars, but we did it at the cost of $995 ($195 up front, then $800 in cash to the driver.)
After the pickup window was set, I was told to wait for further instructions as to the specifics. As the date approached I contacted David via phone to find out when I might expect to hear a specific time for pickup. I left a message, and not a half hour later I received a phone call from the truck driver, Serge, who provided me a date, time, as well as his cell number. He urged me to text or call if I had any questions.
The only snafu, if you could even call it that, was that due to the nature of where I lived the truck driver was unable to pick up my car in front of my house. The San Francisco streets are just too narrow for a truck of that size to navigate. It was a reasonable concern, so I met Serge at a gas station down near the airport, dropped the car with him, and was given a general time frame (one of two days, depending on his truck load) as to he would arrive in Austin. He told me we would receive a phone call when he knew the exact date and time, and then another call a half hour before he was due to arrive.
A couple of days into his journey, Serge texted me the exact date, and on that day we received the 30-minute call from Serge, as planned. Again, due to the nature of where we had moved, his truck would be unable to drop off the car in front of our house. We decided on a Lowe's parking lot about 5 minutes from our house, and were soon reunited with our car, no damage done whatsoever.
This was about as effortless a segment of our entire move, thanks to Fast Motion Auto Transport and the more than able driving of Serge. SFAT are reasonable, communicative, friendly, and totally aware how stressful a move can be.
