I am an 82-year-old disabled woman who recently hired Expo Movers and Storage to move my one-bedroom apartment to another unit in the same building with an elevator. I specifically chose them because they were HRA approved and had good reviews, but my experience with them was nothing short of a nightmare. I feel compelled to share my story to prevent others from falling into the same trap. First and foremost, Expo Movers and Storage charged the government more than $3000 for my move, yet they had the audacity to demand tips from me. I found this to be utterly unacceptable and unprofessional. I'm on a fixed income, and I shouldn't have been burdened with additional costs after such a hefty government payment. But that's not the worst of it. They left a significant amount of my belongings behind, claiming that these items were not on their list. However, they had reported to HRA that these items were indeed included in the move. For instance, they refused to move my air conditioner because I hadn't taken it out of the window and boxed it up. I'm an 82-year-old disabled woman living alone; how was I supposed to follow such instructions? Isn't the purpose of a moving company to handle these tasks for me? The list of their negligence and incompetence goes on. They didn't take down my curtains or remove them, they didn't bother to remove pictures from my walls, and they neglected many other essential tasks that one would expect from a moving company. It felt like they were just interested in pushing and pulling boxes into and out of the elevator without any regard for the details that make a move successful. To sum it up, my experience with Expo Movers and Storage was a complete disaster. They took advantage of my vulnerability as an elderly, disabled woman, charged exorbitant fees, and failed to provide the basic moving services I had paid for. I strongly advise anyone, especially those in similar circumstances, to avoid this company at all costs. They are a disgrace to the moving industry and should not be trusted with anyone's belongings or well-being.
