The negative rating here all seem to be based on one or just a few experiences. In 2022 I averaged 83 LTL shipments a month. I use ALL of the carriers in the Chicagoland area, due to sister-store preferences and drop shipping. Our product (solar panels and supplies) is very large, very heavy, and semifragile. We also have excessive/extreme length on many shipments. When it comes to large scale shipping that requires daily service and the kind of open communication that allows for IMMEDIATE inquiry, Estes is the only logical choice. The smaller outfits choose not to pick up the excessive length items. The larger outfits pick and choose, based on convenience. You can't count on them to hold you in any regard when flooded with more convenient packages from countless other customers. The only other company that even could handle 'real traffic' (FedEx) has a real problem with honesty. You must constantly double check invoices for surcharges added after the quote. If you need to speak with them, they are locked behind an 800 number and several dial tone prompts, just to speak to person at a call center. (not a person doing operations for the local terminal)
