Another Bait and Switch

I used uship to try to move a 2003 beetle from CO to PA, but I got duped. Here's the time line.

12/14/12
Rena Anders, the president of Enterprise Auto Transport, bid $711.49, and I booked with her. The contract said that the car would be picked up within 7 days and then delivered within 7 days of pickup.

Immediately after booking, I sent her an email asking if the quoted price was all inclusive, and she affirmed that it was. We had a brief phone conversation and she said that she'd call me back soon.

12/17
Not hearing from her, I emailed her and asked her to call me. She didn't, so I called her and she replied, "Didn't I just talk to you two days ago," and said she'd call me back.

12/18
She said she had a driver who would move the car for $300 more than her original quote. Before, she said the price was "all inclusive", now she she talked about how supply and demand and the difficult location of the car would make it hard to move the car at the original quoted price.

12/24
She emailed to say that she was still on the job.

Jan 2
I hadn't heard from her since 12/24, so I sent her an email asking if she'd be able to honor her quote. I didn't hear from her so I cancelled the order on Jan 3.

After researching this process a lot in the last month, I've learned that Rena was telling the truth when she said that the location of the car was making it difficult to move at her original quote. But she knew the location of the car, the time of the year, and all the other variables involved BEFORE making the quote. I have to conclude that she made the quote artificially low to get me to book. This is the worst sort of bait and switch.

My car is still in CO. Had I not been waiting for three weeks, I could have bought a plane ticket and drove the car back here.

This is my first bad review in over 8 years of being in this industry and its very disheartening to read this review knowing how much time I worked on your order and for free. Sir, you keep using the word quote and that means its an estimate. There is no bait and switch since I did not take nor ask for any upfront $. Also, the terms and conditions you signed on the first line of the contract state it was an estimate and your trying to change the terms to fit your agenda. I gave our best estimate on what we feel REALISTICALLY will take to move the vehicle based on similar shipments. The work is subcontracted out and the driver decides the price NOT US. Question sir what did we do wrong? We did try to find you a driver that met your needs of schedule and price. Regrettably this was not possible and even with many calls out to prospective drivers, none were interested in transporting your vehicle. While we frequently find drivers for very difficult loads it is not always possible. We can't make a driver transport your vehicle and if none are in the area or running your route then there is nothing we can do. We cant make them take your car. We are a VERY diligent corporation. However we also realize we can not please everyone and we are not a gold coin to be liked and admired by everyone. We are however liked and admired by the majority of our shippers. If you are a potential shipper and considering us for shipping we sincerely hope you evaluate this situation and make a rational decision and know we remain committed to our shipper's excellence and that is why are ranked in the top 25 on Uship out of more than 380,341 companies.
