Earth Auto Shippers promised enclosed and containerised shipping and port storage of a precious classic car from Illinois to Europe and charged a high premium for this service. The contract clearly stated enclosed shipping and several emails were exchanged with their sales person Rebecca Wilson and their general manager Bill Edwards in order to ensure safe handling to the standard promised and paid for. Only by chance was I made aware that the car had in fact been shipped as roll-on roll-off, handled like any other used car exported to Europe, and stored out in the open for several weeks and subjected to adverse weather, acid rain and bird soiling which could easily ruin an expensive paint job. When confronted with this fact, Rebecca Wilson and Bill Edwards at Earth Auto Shippers simply replied that any damage would be covered by the insurance. My claim for a refund due to their failure to deliver the service that they were bound by contract to deliver and which I had paid for was rejected. When trying to pursue my claim further, they became outright unpleasant and rude and showed absolutely no respect for me as their customer or even their own contracted obligations. My advice is crystal clear: Stay away from this fraudulent company! They will gladly promise you a premium service and take your money, but they have no scruples at all about not living up to their promises. A real rip-off company!

The thing that JF forgot to mention was that the car caught on fire and burned to the ground 10 minutes after he drove away from the port. I have the pictures to prove it. This had nothing to do with the way it was shipped. After an investigation, the insurance company declared that the fire was a result of faulty wiring or a problem with the brakes. Unfortunately, that sometimes happens to cars that are very old. I am sorry that his car burned down, but trying to blame the shipping company isn't going to help.
