I bought a non-running classic car from eBay and put out for bids for transport. I received several that I thought were expensive and several that were reasonable. That is the point of the bidding process. However, one company caught my attention with a really nice price that underbid all the others, Dream Transport. The original bid was for $865, so I contacted them and arranged to have the car picked up on the 27th of June. I gave Gavin all the information he needed to contact the seller and schedule the pickup. After a few days, neither I nor the seller had heard from him, so I tried to call and kept getting voice mail. Gavin did not return the calls, so I tried email. Each email usually had to wait a day for a response. After a week, I was getting anxious to get my car and the seller wanted it out of their garage. When I informed Gavin that I was considering canceling his contract, having this job removed from Central Dispatch and finding a different broker, he contacted the seller and informed them that he needed more money to get the car moved. They were not paying the bill, they did not need to be contacted with that information. The seller informed me that he was wanting a higher fee, so I tried to call, again with no luck, and sent an email. I was informed that the fee would be $950. I agreed to this. So, the car was picked up after being ready for 11 days. The day before the car was to be delivered, the driver called and said he would be there in the evening and to please have the $1200 fee ready. This was the first I had heard about a $1200 fee! I called the driver and called the driver's dispatcher. The dispatcher informed me that she had a contract for $1200, and I informed her that I had a contract for $950. I tried again to call Gavin to straighten this out. I finally emailed him and the next day his response was that I had agreed to the $1200. Two hours later he set me an invoice dated that day. Talk about bait and switch! !
Well, the car has been delivered, I paid the $1200, and I recommend that anybody that is thinking of using this company or Gavin Micheals, would be better off pushing their car across country.
Gavin's technique of non-communication, stalling, and outright lying has left a bad taste for future car shipments. It is the one bad apple thing.
