Unfortunate Deal

Amy at DAT was great to work with. She got my car picked up quickly for the right price and delivery was on track to arrive a day early.

Unfortunately, the carrier was caught avoiding a weigh station and escorted back to the port of entry where he was forced to unload some weight (i.e. my car). This was a Sunday morning while I was out of town. A state official from the Port of Entry was able to make contact with my son who drove out and paid the trucker (a mistake) and picked up the car.

I arrived home to find that the trunk had been damaged (I have pictures at loading which clearly show the damaged area to be 'undamaged). Matters were made worse by an attempt to conceal the damage by pounding it out from the inside (which eliminated the possibility of a simple dent puller and also damaged the fasteners for the interior trim which was removed to get access to the inside of the damaged area).

The trucker's insurance has a $2500 deductible. The trucker will not return my calls. And DAT staff, although pleasant and sympathetic, is unable to do anything more than apologize for the unfortunate series of events.

All in all, DAT was a pleasure to work with and, barring the unscrupulous conduct of the trucker they set me up with, would have received high marks.
