Cost $1500
Transport time 7 days
I used Transportreview.com, Movingscam.com and the BBB to search for an auto transport company for a reliable company using enclosed carriers who was available in the next week. My final choices were FedEx (Passport), DeMoise and Thomas C. Sunday. Thomas Sunday didn’t have any carriers available for 3 weeks. FedEx uses customer service operators, and mine didn’t seem too knowledgeable and concerned about my situation; I wasn’t too eager to deal with a large corporation with deep pockets and legal resources if it should come to that. Bill DeMoise, the president of DeMoise Trucking, answered the phone himself and answered my questions. He was personable and had a carrier available. He gave me Louie the driver’s cellphone #.
Louie and I arranged a pickup as close to my house as possible, and he came on time within a quarter mile, which I didn’t think possible. He was personable and answered my questions without reservation. I watched him load my car; he was very careful. He estimated 8-10 days delivery time since Maryland was his last destination. I called him once to check on the progress, and he answered the phone.
Louie actually arrived a day early and came again as close as possible (1 mile away) to my Maryland location. The car was undamaged. I am very satisfied with my DeMoise Trucking experience, more so given all the horror stories out there. Based on my experience, I highly recommend them for your moves. They cost more because they take better care of your car, but since your car is most likely the single most expensive item you’re shipping, extra care might be worthwhile.
