We were to have a Ford Crown Victoria transported from Hesperia, CA to Midland, MI. Unfortunately, we felt it necessary to forgo our $200 deposit to the broker, Gilles Genereux. Gilles led us to believe that our vehicle would be insured during transport, that we would know the carrier, and could track the vehicle enroute. However, when we finally were able to talk to the driver of the truck who was to pick up our car, he was irate when we asked his name and the company for which he worked. We also wanted to be reassured that the car would be insured while it was being transported since our car insurance company said they would not cover it during that time. In addition, Gilles said he was just the broker. He said the car carrier was responsible for the insurance. So we thought it was common sense to ask the driver a few questions in order to feel we were making a wise decision regarding a moderately expensive piece of machinery. When we asked the driver his name, we couldn't understand him very well, so we asked him to spell it. That's when he became beligerant and said he didn't know why we needed to know those things, and therefore, he would not pick up our car. Needless to say, we readily agreed this was best; now we will try another service that will answer our questions and understand why it is important that we know who is driving the car and whether the transport is insured.
