While setting up the pickup of my vehicle I asked all the questions you are supoose to to protect yourself, "are you a broker or do you own the trucks you ship with?" , "what is your response to the complaints I see online concerning your company?"...etc. The responses were, "we are only a broker in Hawaii and Alaska otherwise the trucks are our own", "those complaints are actually posted by our competitors or people our competeitors have encouraged to complain about us". The first response turned out to be a complete falsehood the 2nd is likely to be the same though no way for me to verify. In terms of the actual transport , Cross Country Auto Transport(CCAT) gave me a firm date up until deposit was paid then it became more of a ballpark estimate. To protect myself I altered the pickup dates listed on the contract and added the text "will require a refund if not picked up by 4/9/05 before signing and returning. In terms of transport, I got lucky and the subcontractor was reliable and professional. However, when he came to drop of my car he was told by CCAT to collect more than the agreed on fee. Of course the only way to get my vehicle off the truck was to pay it. For the 3 months since I have been trying to obtain a refund for the difference. So far in that time I've managed to get ahold of "customer service" twice. Once in April, when i was told it'd be taken care of and once in July when it was obvious no notes had been taken in April and I was starting from square one. I really doubt I ever see my money and I STRONGLY urge everyone to not use this organization.
