My mover recommended Countrywide Auto Transport to move my car from California to South Carolina. It was a nightmare.

Countrywide said they would pick up my car either Monday or Tuesday June 28 or 29. They didn't tell me this until after I paid the $350.00 deposit. They couldn't promise me a more specific time because they were very busy in June. As this was our only car we were moving, I had to coordinate this with packing/loading our household goods and flights out of California. I was forced to leave the car at a friend's real estate office because they didn't pick the car up on time. Luckily, I kept in touch with the real estate secretary there as I did not get any calls returned from Elda when the car was not picked up. The driver called them on Tuesday and said he was stuck in traffic. He would be there first thing Wednesday morning. He didn't pick up the car until Friday July 2nd! I was told if they didn't pick up the car that day, that my car would have been towed!

While the car was in transit I had no communication with the driver. Also, Elda again did not return further phone calls. The driver, Ted Gray, finally called me on July 13th and said he would be there sometime the 14th. We had already planned on going out of town, so I asked him to leave the car with another real estate agency on this end. I left my certified check with the realtor. The car was delivered....filthy dirty.....and in O.K. shape. Plus, the driver left me a Bill of Lading from West Coast Auto Transport....so he didn't even work for or was affilliated with, Countrywide Auto Transport!

However, due to the lack of communication, and the constant worry over whether my car would be picked up, or was stolen, or would be towed....I would NEVER use them again and STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON'T USE THEM, EITHER!
