On Friday, May 29, 2009, I received a price quote and then placed an order with Countrywide Auto Transport to transport a vehicle from San Diego, California to my residence in Texas. Countrywide Auto Transport is located in Ladera Ranch, California and informed me that they had hundreds of dedicated drivers/transporters/carriers available to them. I immediately placed my order with Countrywide Auto Transport on that particular day because I was informed that they would be able to transport my vehicle the following Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week if I placed my order now at a discounted rate of $745. I agreed since I needed the vehicle transported and they claimed they could get it to me that following week.
I never received follow-up calls or e-mails from Countrywide. I continued to call Countrywide Auto Transport to check the status of my transport the following week to see if the vehicle had been picked up yet. Countrywide continued to give me some sort of excuse or explanation as to why the vehicle was not yet transported. Then they continuously promised me several more “definite” dates that the vehicle would be picked up. After two weeks of getting the run around and the promised dates from Countrywide Auto Transport never occurred, I decided to cancel the transport and requested a refund. I requested the refund on Monday, June 15, 2009. They e-mailed me the cancellation form. Countrywide Auto Transport instructed me to circle the section on the form to request a FULL refund since they still did not have a carrier assigned. I faxed this to them on this same day. I called Countrywide Auto Transport to verify that they did receive my fax, and they did. Countrywide Auto Transport informed me that it would take 7 to 10 business days to get my refund. I called Countrywide Auto Transport several times again through out the month of July to inquire about my refund. I was told each time that “Oh, they (their Accounting Dept.) are working on it…you should receive it in the next few days…” Well, FOUR months later, with NO auto transport and NO refund, I disputed this charge with my credit card company. A few days ago, I finally received my full refund through my credit card company (Mastercard) after I disputed it. Such a headache and hassle from Countrywide Auto Transport! Uugh!
