DO NOT use Continental Van Lines. When I called to schedule a truck I asked for them to be here on a Monday and was told I need to give at least a 3 day pick up time to assure they can make it on time. So I scheduled for Monday through Wednesday, but was assured they would be here on Monday anyways. I had a 3 day moving sale from Friday to Sunday and still managed to have the entire house packed and cleaned before Monday. Monday rolls around and I hadn't heard from them so I gave them a call. I was told the truck would be by Tuesday afternoon. Okay, I can handle a day late and it's still inside the time frame. Lunch time on Tuesday rolls around and still no truck. I called again and was told the house before me under estimated the amount they had and filled up the truck, they were looking for a truck to reroute and would call me back in a couple of minutes. So I call back an hour later and they are still looking for a truck and promise to call back when they find one. Not 30 minutes later a woman calls telling me they are offering a refund. They can’t find a truck and will no long be moving me. Um, WHAT? Rent is paid til Friday, which also happens to be the day everything gets shut off. So I ask if there’s a truck in any neighboring cities: nope, any neighboring states: nope. So where are all of their trucks if they are a national moving company. You can’t tell me they only have a handful of trucks and be a “National” moving company. And for me to be moving from such a large city (El Paso) and there not be another truck anywhere, sounds like a lot of BS to me. I ask what they plan on doing about this and she said “issue a refund” and I say “I ment how exactly do you plan to help me find another truck and/or moving company that can pick up by Friday” to which her reply was something along the lines of “once we issue the refund it is out of our hands”. So you’re telling me a “National” moving company can just call and cancel and strand a single ARMY mother with no food and no place to live and a 9 month old baby because they can not do their job right. You cannot tell me that they have been in business for as long as they have and ran it like this the whole time. There should always be a back up plan especially when the woman said “this kind of thing happens all the time. People under estimate and we have to find another truck for the next home” . So they no this thing happens and yet they did not have a back up truck just incase. BS. My baby and I are stuck in El Paso trying to find another moving company that will make an emergency pick up because Continental Van Lines is incompetent. No worries though because I’d much rather give my money to any other company beside them. Any company willing to pick up their mess will always get my business. My friends and family and even the cashier at the Wal-mart register will hear about this and never use them. Good job Continental for losing thousands of people business.
