BEWARE! Contacted Big Ben Auto Transportation for a quote to schedule a transfer for Mid-December for my 1987 Toyota Truck from Virginia to California in early November. They quoted me $490. So on the day of planned transport, I call them to see when the driver would arrive and Big Ben Transport is scrambling to get a contract signed by me. My first red flag. I am on the road using my cell phone trying to sign this contract. All said and done and deposit of $290 is provided via PayPal since they cannot run my credit card. My second red flag. The worker tells me the driver will be contacting me via phone by the end of the day to let me know when to expect him. So I waited 48 hours and no call. My third red flag. So I started looking at the contract, I see the final bill at delivery has ballooned from $200 to $2300. I called Big Ben back to cancel the contract since in the contract I have 1-7 days to do such a thing and the guy asked if my driver has contacted me. I told him no. So he proceeds to give me the phone number of the driver and wants me to call the driver to see when he was arriving and call them back. In the contract it states Big Ben would be relaying all this information to me and not the other way around. I called the driver and he said it would be another 24 hours or more before he could get there. I told not to bother I was cancelling the shipment with Big Ben. He said OK. I called Big Ben back to let them know I cancelled the driver and wanted my deposit back minus the $25 for admin fees. He said can't do it since they had a driver assigned. I reminded him of the quote of $490 an then he went into a rant about no way they could transport a cart that far for that amount of money. When I asked him why they quoted they price, just crickets on the other end of the phone. I still cancelled the contract. Then later that night (pm a driver from Big Ben called (not the same one from the afternoon) ask what time would we like the truck to be picked up. I laughed at him and told him I cancelled the contract with Big Ben. I would not recommend using this company EVER! And if you do, make sure you read the contract before you sign it. Big Ben is very sneaky, very sneaky. I am going after them in a different approach to get my deposit back. I am very disappointed in them in way they conduct business.
