Bestway = the worst company on the face of the earth

I thought I got ultimately screwed by Bestway (which should be referred to as Worstway, as this is a more accurate description) Auto Transport, until I read the reviews on this website. Wow. What an awful company. I have never dealt with a larger group of scam artists, liars, cheats, and downright blasphemous people.

On August 23rd, I called Bestway to make a reservation for my vehicle to be shipped from New York to Los Angeles. When I spoke to Rich (‘the manager of the company,’ although I don’t believe it because his answers to my questions were so shady and unclear, I’m not sure if he could differentiate left from right), I told him that I would be arriving in LA on September 17th, and desire to have the car there on that day or the following day. I told him the car was ready to go anytime, and asked him what day I should schedule the pickup for to make sure that my car would arrive when I wanted it to. He told me that I should schedule pickup on September 5th. So I did.

A day later I found out from some colleagues that Bestway Auto was a bunch of scam artists, and that I should definitely find another company. I called to cancel the booking, only to be rudely told off by Beth (who calls herself a manager, but I find that hard to believe, since she is the most incompetent and blatantly rude person I have ever dealt with in my life. She should try learning how to manage her attitude, for starters). Nonetheless, I told Beth that the reason I was canceling was due to the lack of clarity in their shoddy contract (which could have been better drafted by my 5 yr. old niece), specifically because they do not guarantee a pickup or delivery date. She told me not to worry, as my car was ‘already placed on a truck’ and ‘NY to LA is our most popular route: it never takes more than 7-10 business days.’ When I questioned her that the contract really doesn’t guarantee anything less than 30 days, she replied that ‘it NEVER has taken longer than 10 days’ What a fool I was to listen to such an incompetent, lying individual.

My car was picked up on September 5th, although I had to call three times to ask why the truck driver was hours late, only to be yelled at and told it was somehow my fault. Still, I give them credit for actually picking up on the day they said they would. That was the first, last, and only thing they actually managed to do somewhat correctly.

Over a week later, on September 14th (note: the 7th business day), I called the transporter company for a tracking update, only to find out that the car was in Indiana. 7 business days (9 total) and the car had gone a grand total of 600 miles. Unbelievable. Even worse is the realization that I could have rode my bicycle farther than Indiana in the same amount of time it took the trucking company to do it. I politely asked the transporter company whom I should inquire with in regards to the delay, and she told me to talk to Bestway, as they are the brokers and in charge of the logistics. When I called Bestway, I talked to one of their incompetent secretaries and asked them that I was wondering why the car was taking so long to ship. She told me that they never said it would be 7-10 business days, but rather 10-15. What a bunch of bull. Truly, a white lie. I asked her if I could speak to Rich, ‘the manager whom I booked the car with,’ and she put me on hold for five minutes only to tell me he was busy on the other line and that I should call back in 10 minutes.

30 minutes later, I called back, and the real fun began. Beth answered the phone, and when I asked for Rich, she asked what I needed to talk to him for. When I told her the same story that I told the other secretary, she told me the same white lies, while blaming the trucking company for the delay. She told me I would have to take it up directly with the trucking company. When I told her that the trucking company told me to call Bestway, she said that I was lying.

After a rude assault from Beth for about 15 minutes (hencewhile I simply wanted a simple answer as to why my car was delayed), she continually kept telling me that they had no idea why it is delayed, and that they don’t care. It’s amazing to me that a broker company doesn’t care, when their only job is to care. When I asked to speak to her supervisor and manager, she told me that she ‘was not letting me talk to him.’ What kind of employee does not let a customer talk to the manager of the company? At this point, I came to the conclusion that Beth was the most useless person a human being could ever talk to. When I told her that customer service was the worst I have ever seen, she hung up the phone on me.

When I called back, Beth picked up the phone and told me never to call their office again, or they would ‘take action’ (whatever that means). After proceeding to change her story 9,245,456 times about what she really said on the phone a few weeks ago, while telling me I ‘don’t know how to count’, ‘you’re just chasing you’re tail,’ and that I was tying up their phone lines. It’s amazing that a company that supposedly does ‘over 7,000 orders per year’ has only one phone line. If you calculate it out, that means they are taking an order every 20-25 minutes that they are open. Obviously, something doesn’t add up here.

Nonetheless, I never received a single phone call from Bestway telling me that my car had arrived in California (although it CLEARLY states in their contract that Bestway would be contacting me to arrange a pickup time for the car). I had to make about 15 phone calls to figure out which local truck company was actually bringing me the car, and arrange a time with them myself. There is a definitely something wrong when the customer has to make the phone calls to track down the car, ESPECIALLY when the car is almost two weeks overdue. My car ended up arriving to me 24 days after it was picked up, which translates to the 19th business day (remember, I was quoted as ‘7-10’). To top it all off, my exhaust pipes were completely smashed upon arrival because the transporters did not take care to put the flatbed at the right angle when loading and unloading the car. Even after I witnessed them scrape the pipes upon loading in New York and called them up to let them know that this was happening, they were still smashed even worse.

My favorite part of this all is that Beth continuously told me 'read the contract, just read the contract.' Well, now that the car is here, I read the contract, and Bestway didn't abide by it. Additionally, the attitude and service they provided was downright despicable. I challenge anyone at Bestway to write a review to mine (without spelling errors, please) and come up with ANY possible reason for their actions and incompetence (read: it's not possible--you lose).

Do not believe any of the ‘good’ reviews of Bestway on this site. They are clearly self-written by Bestway just to counter all the bad reviews from the terrible job they do. Please, do not be sucked in by Bestway. They are the worst company on the planet, with the most incompetent, rude, dishonest employees. Beth is the worst manager of any organization of all time (read: downright awful). I will make sure that the Better Business Bureau investigates this case thoroughly and puts Bestway out of business like it belongs. There is no excuse for such lies and terrible customer service (I’m doing them a huge favor by even referring to it as ‘service’ at this point). I will never EVER ship my car anywhere again, and definitely not with such a bunch of scam artists like Beth and her little minions at Bestway Auto Transport.
