Horrible Experience with a Dishonest and Homophobic Company

In early June 2011 I contracted with Pete Sanders at Best Auto Shipper to have my car shipped from California to Maryland. The agreement was for the car to be picked up the morning of June 20 due to my outbound flight later that day. To reduce any anxiety on my part regarding the pickup I requested the carrier’s contact information, however Pete became unexpectedly agitated and overly aggressive. He insinuated that I would harass the driver if given this information, and I was promised a call prior to my pickup date to arrange a specific time and meeting place.

The day before my scheduled pickup (June 19) I again contacted Best Auto Shipper since they had not reached out to me, as had been promised. To my utter surprise I was informed that the pickup date had been changed to June 21 - the day after my flight. This was the first time I had been informed of this change. I attempted to speak with Pete however he was unavailable and I was assisted by someone else (I believe his name was Mike). He was helpful and put me in contact with the carrier, and promised to have Pete return my call early the following morning. When that call didn’t materialize I called Pete and was again talked down to. In his simplistic mind a one-day delay was no big deal – regardless of the fact that the pickup was now AFTER my flight and I would not be available at this time. Mind you, I made it very clear that I was not asking for the pickup time to be changed as I had already worked out an alternate arrangement with the carrier. I was expecting Best Auto, and in particular Pete, to apologize for failing to keep me apprised of the scheduling change and the poor customer service that I had received. An apology was not forthcoming, and it was obvious that this business had absolutely no concern for their customers once they had collected their fee.

I would strongly recommend to anyone shipping their car to avoid dealing with Best Auto. They are a dishonest group of people who lack general customer service knowledge. Let my experience be a warning of the type of business they run.

Update: After submitting the above review Best Auto had it removed from this site with the false claim that I had never done business with them. After I learned of this I contacted Best Auto for an explanation, and the person answering the phone replied: "Let me guess, it was a bad review." Right then and there, I knew they were once again resorting to their dishonest tactics to hide wrong doings on their part. Shortly thereafter I was put on hold for more than 20 minutes, so I decided to hang up and call them back.

The next person I spoke with was Matthew Stickley and initially he seemed to be helpful in explaining why my order was not found the first time. However after I asked some additional questions he became very defensive and asked me what I did for a living. This question seemed unusual so I questioned why he was interested in this. His response was that I was asking too many questions and he wanted to get to know me better. While this might seem to most as an unusual request, customer relations is significant part of my business, so I informed him that I am also in a position where I need to build relationships. To my utter shock his reply was one of the most inappropriate and totally ILLEGAL comments I have ever heard an employee of a company say to one of their customers. Matthew Stickley, an employee of Best Auto Shipper, asked me "Are you gay?" I was in utter disbelief that someone in his position would say that. I asked him if he was serious and why this would be any of his concern, and he proceeded to say that my questions about the company made him believe I was attracted to and hitting on him. I immediately requested to speak with his supervisor and was told to hold on. While pretending to put me on hold he said aloud “There is a homo on the phone who is hitting on me.” He then came back on the phone and made two final comments before I hung up in disgust - “You are homo” and “You sound gay.”

While this might sound unbelievable I assure you that it is the complete truth. There are plenty of other services to use to ship your vehicle so BE FOREWARNED. This company should be AVOIDED AT ALL COST. You can be assured that I plan to follow up with the appropriate authorities to report them so that no one else needs to deal with this humiliation.

This quote from your review just made every one know this is a false review. Your trying to defend yourself using the reverse psychology rule. If you read every review from other clients you will see that its all about the top customer service that was given. You could at least stated that Pete Sanders said all of this to you or one of the five mangers name to have more creditably. But there is no Mathew that works at Best Auto Shipper. Best Auto Shipper is appalled that you would go the lengths to try to bad mouth the company. We can not stop you or anyone from voicing their opinion and/or writing false reviews. I am not in a position to defend Best Auto Shipper from this False statement and/or any others, but you could have come up with better believable review than this one. Mintz, Best Auto Shipper will print and highlight this review to give to the entire staff to show them the proof that there is people out there just trying to do all that they can to bring down a good company. Mintz, Best Auto Shipper and its staff says "thank you for this review. It is very helpful in pushing Best Auto Shipper to higher levels" All the best
