Let me start that the experience was overall positive. I'd do it again and plan on doing so. Two days of travel, mileage, gas, food, etc. vs rolling onto the truck where you are and rolling it off again where you go fit my objectives completely.

Our truck driver was consistently courteous and communicated well. He did have some problems with his rig that could have been a big problem, but, nothing that we didn't work around. The car got there intact and apparently still parked where it was when he loaded it up. To my untrained eye, that means that he planned his load well and didn't waste time. On both the pick up and delivery, our driver reported that he was going to be delayed (he called us) then made up most of the time and got the job done late the same day. That was a little inconvenient, but, all things considered, not a huge deal.

For first time users I would offer the following observations. The more that you plan, the better this will go. Find a good spot for the car to be loaded and unloaded. Door to door is a figurative term. You cannot take a car hauler into a residential neighborhood. Walmart is your friend. The parking lots are huge, well lit and all over the place. Find the closest one to where you will be going. You don't want the driver poking around unfamiliar territory with your car on the back. Next. You can probably count on delivery/pickup on a specific day. I would not count on delivery at a specific time. That isn't so much criticism as it is realism. Our guy had to drive 22 hours just to get where we were going. Add in deliveries, pick ups, sleep and repair and anything better than a 4 hour window is probably wishful thinking. So don't count on the car to be at your airport when you get there, nor should you plan on it being picked up at the airport as you run to your flight.
