Terrible Service

The worst customer service experiences of my life. Lied and misled me, the customer. Contacted Auto Transporters Online to ship my Audi S6 from Stamford, CT to Denver, CO where I go to school. Paid $795 for the silver rate with an expected pickup time of 1 to 8 days. After about a week and a half of nothing, Karen contacts me to say Spectrum Shipping is willing to ship the car and they will contact me for pickup. Spectrum Shipping never contacts me and I am never able to get in touch with the driver or company. Meanwhile, Karen at Auto Transporters said that Spectrum Shipping has great reviews online. The only company with Spectrum in the name on this website and every other I have checked is Spectrum Auto Transport, and they are all terrible. I spoke to Karen about this fact and she went on to say there are three companies named Spectrum and this was not the one. It sure sounded like it due to the driver never returning my calls (look at reviews) and there not being a Spectrum Shipping listed online anywhere, reviews or not. I decided to cancel the pickup with Spectrum due to never talking to them. Paid the extra money for the "next level of service" in the morning and the car carrier was in Stamford that afternoon! Instead of apologizing for the terrible service and making it right, Auto Transporters Online had me give them more money, and as insult to injury, the truck was there that day! When I picked the car up, I owed the driver $700. This was after paying the Gold Rate of $990. Auto Transporters online took $190 of my money for making a few phone calls. They could have taken only $95 and still dispatch the car for $700 as an "apology" for the poor service, but they didn't. To further mislead me, Auto Transporters Online told me that the car carrier would pick my car up at my home in CT and drop it off at my school in CO. Not true. The car had to be driven 20 minutes to the carrier and 20 minutes from the drop off point. Do the math and take a look at the facts. Auto Transporters Online is only concerned with making their "set" percentage of the deal; not sacrificing any (still a profit mind you) for customer service.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service so a review of this nature warrants a direct response. When false accusations are made about our people and our company, we have no choice but to refute the allegations. Reed contracted with us at the economy rate to ship his vehicle. It was explained to him that pickup could be anything from a day to about 14 days on average for pickups from the NorthEast over the New Year long weekend period because of the holidays and weather conditions. His vehicle was dispatched for pickup a week later - well within the timeframe estimated. The trucker wanted to pick it up on a Wednesday. The customer refused and requested that it be picked up on the next day. The trucker told Reed that they would pick it up on the day he requested. On the morning of the scheduled pickup, the customer called to cancel the trucker. He claimed that the company had a bad rating. This is untrue - the company called Spectrum Shipping out of Chicago has a 100% rating as noted on the central trucker board. He confused them with another company with a similar name and decided to cancel the pickup. We advised him of this and the risk of having to wait until another trucker was available. We kept in regular contact with Reed. He was extremely rude on each occasion demanding that his vehicle be picked up immediately. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to understand that this was not UPS or FEDEX and that there is a limited number of truckers doing the route. His accusation of being charged the gold rate is blatantly false. We charged our standard silver economy admin fee as agreed. However, his father agreed to pay another trucker that only works at higher rates an additional $100 to expedite the shipment. This was an option that the customer chose. It was not a requirement as we told him that we would have continued working on it until we found truck space at the agreed rate. The only reason that we offered him this trucker was because of his son's demands and behaviour. Reed doesn't seem to remember that he was told that the vehicle would be picked up and delivered as close as possible to the locations specified but would be determined by the size of the truck, truck access laws and safety. We apologize for any misunderstandings but Reed delayed the entire process by cancelling a scheduled pickup by an excellent trucker well within the agreed timeframe at the agreed contract rate. His vehicle was picked up and delivered in good condition.
